Y'all can hide your heads in the sand all y'all want. The Socialist party is just that. Don't like it? Then tough. I suggest you go and see the social programs endorsed.

Obama and the other Socialists are gonna shove this ####### onto us whether we like it or not. They are gonna have help from the other joke of a party. Now with the Socialists in control of Congresss and the white house is not a very pleasant thought.

More bullsh!t. You really have no clue about what you're talking about. Socialism is a broadly defined term and you're taking a literal interpretation of it, which okay, if you really believe the sh!t you're talking, then come out and say the U.S. is a Socialist Country. You won't because you'd be laughed off these boards.

Give one example of a government in modern times that is absent of any social programs (public utilities, fire dept., police, military). Total privatization doesn't exist in any government and by your logic that means everyone's a socialist....and when everyone's a socialist then calling someone a socialist is meaningless.

Kinda funny.

Those latched onto the Stalinist Socialism platform as some sort of evil should really keep their eye fixed on China and Russia. In the U.S., the Socialist Party which advocates personal freedom and choice would probably be spat on by the repressive, dissent-hating Stalinists which, in this case, is more akin to dissent-hating conservatives. Even Socialism today, which is really Democratic Socialism, embraces capitalism and the free market to a logical extent, but realizes their bottom line is in conflict with equality and freedoms represented in today's Democracies so must be regulated.

Anyone with a rational understanding of the Socialist Party today would not be making silly Red Scare assumptions about it. It's not to say just because they have my 2008 vote it means I'm a loyal Socialist Party person. I'm non-committed, or, in California terms, "Decline to State". So indeed, look down upon those who refuse to understand their opponent before castigating them.

Trust me I seen most opinions here and not trusting what I say about poilitics is meaningless to me. You easily led sheep are just that, easily led.

Gotcha. Thanks for playing.

A backhanded insult about "easily led sheep". Man if only it were that easy to deconstruct people's arguments with a one-liner.

You can believe the world is made of green cheese if you wish, but I don't have to humor it.

If I had to guess - I would say that luckytxn is one of those traditional Republican voters who were disillusioned with McCain for not being conservative enough.

No problem. Watching sheep being led around is kinda fun.

The sheep comment was for both parties. I watched the debates and saw how the candidates were allowed to stand and answer questions and be the focus. Both parties nomineesn were handpicked by the media for everyone to get behind and be led.

Just my opinion. I was disgusted by it but I see now it was very effective tactic. Both parties candidates were chosen by the media.

Never equated communism with the Socialists ever.

So enlighten us. Give one example of a modern government where social programs don't exist (public utilities, schools). Where does this Utopian society of yours exist, where everything is privately owned and operated?

I have to agree to a certain extent and have come to the conclusion that the presidential politics should be handled 'American Idle' style

Refusing to use the spellchick!

"Handpicked by the media" is ridiculous too. Certainly they were selected by the parties for how well they could be marketed to the public (via the media), but that the media establishment itself (not the most organized of conspiracies) actually personally selected the candidates? That's just silly...

I don't agree. As I said it is my opinion which is just as valid as anyone elses.

Sure. I mean there are opinions and then there are opinions. The 9/11 conspiracy theories were "opinions" too, as is Intelligent Design theory. But "just as valid as everyone elses"? I think you might be in for a shock...

I mean... what do you base it on? What is your evidence that leads to your reasoning that "the media" purposefully selected the major party presidential nominees?
