Poll: Racial views steer some white Dems away from Obama

I said this long agao an d wondered where he was going to get all the votes he was going to lose because of his skin color. It seems that the Socialists (Dems) just don't want the White house. I expected my self that 1 in 5 Dems to not vote for him because he was black. That is a huge loss of votes in a national election. Where was he gonna get the lost votes. Maybe a lot of the Independents will come over but the same amount will not because he is black. So where? Definately not the Reps as they may vote for a black but definately not for a Socialist. They only vote for Conservatives or those they believe are Conservative. That is why all along I expect one of the largest electoral defeats in history.

For one, calling the Democratic Party, Socialists, is about as intellectually dishonest as calling the Republican Party, Fascists. But getting back to topic... Obama was winning in all demographics during the Primaries except for in certain areas of the country where there has been a history of racism.

To be completely honest it's because you are a moron. My best friend is a republican and we have political debates all the time, but unlike you he has an IQ above the average monkey & can defend his position.

Actually he had a lot of problems winning in many northeast Socialist strongholds and will again. Most always think that the south is where the most racism is at but trust me and I go up there a lot the northeast is hugely racist. Osama actually had it easier in the southern states.

It is still a huge loss of votes he has to make up from somewhere. Good luck in that. And the big thing is that I think he is actually a good man and in a election cycle or two he may have overcome this crippling setback he is starting from. Back to topic...it's interesting that this has become the focus when it was just last week that McCain was leading in the national polls. Now that his momentum has flatlined and Obama has taken back the lead, Republicans are scrambling to find something to distract the voters with. That said, the national polls don't mean too much other than indicating momentum. In states like Oregon, Obama won in all demographic categories. In states like Pennsylvania, older, socially conservative Democrats he struggled to win over. This is a tough battle is up against and race certainly plays a factor, but he's not going to let stand in the way of convincing Americans he's the better candidate, regardless of skin color.

If you stopped acting like a bufoon for a minute you would realize that it's not just blacks or liberals who support Obama, its also whites & and many Independents (like myself) who prefer him over McCain. Most of the country has already made up their mind about who they will vote for, so McCain & Obama are really fighting over that 20% in the middle.

If you want people to listen to what you say dial down the rhetoric about 12 notches & stop saying stuff just to piss people off. Now if pissing people off is your desired result by all means continue to act like a jackass. Now in an earlier post you told someone not to assume that they know you or your voting record & I would say the same thing to you. I voted for Reagan (he was a great President) & Bush Sr (not bad). I also voted for Clinton & Gore (I have never liked Dubya and I think he's the worst President in modern history). I didn't vote in 2004 because I didn't like either choice.

Now if I were some left wing liberal (like you suggest) I wouldn't have this voting record... I also wouldn't have Republican friends (about half of them are) & I wouldn't have 21 years of military service, with tours in Bosnia & Iraq.
