Fixing a small mistake on I-765 form

I just sent in an I-485 form and I-765 form for my wife, who is a Japanese citizen in the US on a K-1 fiancee visa. After reading some other posts, I now realize that I should have written her eligibility status as ©(9) rather than (a)(6) under question #16. How should I let USCIS know about my mistake? Should I send another I-765 to the Chicago lockbox with a cover letter asking them to disregard the previous form? I just sent the packet yesterday, and it hasn't even arrived yet. Or would it be better to try to get someone on the phone or go to a local USCIS service center? I tried to e-file the I-765, but the system said I had to pay an extra $340, which I don't think I need to do if I'm filing I-765 concurrently with I-485. Thanks for your help!

This is exactly what ive done and I don't know if its a good thing or not. I send a correction letter because of that same mistake, send copies of NOA for I-485 and I-765 plus my biometrics appointment letter for those two applications with stamps biometrics done. ANd oh well, they send me a new NOA for EAD with a new receipt number and new biometrics appointment and im done with it already. Anyways, I wend to local office and ask why I have a new NOA for EAD and the immigration officer told me that my first ead application with wrong answer (a)(6) was as good as void and my second ead is the one that will be followed. And then I said well I just want to correct a simple mistake and looks like it will take my ead applicaiton longer and then the IO said that its a good thing that I send a correciton letter since the first one will be denied anyways because of the wrong answer. Still, I feel like I shouldve not sent a correction letter that they havent or maybe even notice anyways  Sorry I talked a lot

My fiance's friend did the same thing and everything went smoothly anyway.

I wouldn't worry about it right now. Just sit tight..........

Everything turned out fine because it must be a common mistake.

If you love me, then I have everything I need

When mu husband filled out the 1765 form, he did not put an eligibility status at all. He left it blank. We have worried needlessly this whole time. He receive an email notice yesterday saying is employment card has been ordered. We were lucky.

Wow, that's a lot to think about. Thanks for your help everyone! I guess I'll just leave it like it is and not rock the boat. Hopefully it'll work itself out.

I would wait till you get it returned to you, fix it, and send it back.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip
