IM confused when to apply for US citIzenship. They said you can apply when you stayed here 3 yrs. I got married to my US citizenship husband around August 2005. In my permanent resident card says," Resident since 04/27/2006". So that means i should apply for US citizenship april of 2008 right? Or am i okay to apply now? I need help when is the best time to apply. Any anwers would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

It says in your status here that your AOS was still on pending????? ... anyway...

But since your married to a USC, you only got a 2 yrs conditional Greencard after AOS, so you still need to do the Removal of conditions 90 days before your 2 yrs residency in the US. Then....

You could apply citizenship on your 3 yrs of residency here in US not 3 yrs of you being married to a USC. So, if your GC dated April 2006 .. you could apply 90 days before your 3 yrs. residency which is in the calendar of January 2009.

Goodluck!

There is a 3/3/3 rule, it is that to file for Citizenship you need to have met the following 3 events:-

You have to have been Married for 3 years.

and

You have to have been physicaly present in the USA for 3 years

and

You have to have been a Permenent Resident for 3 years

If you have met all 3 then you can file the paperwork no sooner than 90 days before the 3rd anniversary of your "Resident Since" date.

Thank you very much. I got here June 2005. Got married Aug. 2005. Resident since 2006. My GC expires at 2016. I got the 10 yrs instead of 2 yrs. I will apply US Citizenship by january of 2009. How long is the process though. How long will it take before i take the examination for naturalization?

You say you were given a 10 Year Greencard, but you were married less than 2 years at the time of approval. You need to make a infopass appointment at your local office and check that you do not need to file for removal of conditions. If you do need to file and you dont then your status will expire and removal procedings will be started. You need to do this now so that if you do need to file for removal of conditions you still have time.
