Do you take people's laundry out when you're at the laundromat?

I usually wait about 5-10 min before I move their clothes

although, there is one B!tch in my building that one day refused to let me use the dryer b/c she was saving it for her laundry that had another 5 min to go in the washer and I was standing there holding all my wet laundry!!!@#$#$%^

That woman's stuff I take out right when it's done~

i just didn't make a huge scene out of it cuz her 5 yr old daughter was right there and so I thought if you want to be an embarrassment to society in front of your child, go ahead.

There was however an exchange of "but my laundry is done now"

"i'm saving it"

"but your laundry isn't done"

"i'm saving it"

"but my laundry is done now"

flames - I wish you were my neighbor, cause I'd leave my laundry in there on purpose on your laundry days. :P

Em - I'm a chicken too. But if I did remove it, I don't think I'd fold it, cause then I'd be worried that someone would catch me rubbing their undies with my hands.

Britty - I like the term laundry deserters, cause that's exactly what they are.

Liz - that lady is horrible. I would take her stuff out too - probably the only time I'd grow a pair in the laundry room!

We have a small laundry room so when I go in, I can see how many washers are going, if there's a lot I might just wait, if there's a few, I'll do it knowing I'll get a dryer. Some people forget, but never had that issue as there's always one dryer open generally.

Now back in the doms in college was another story. Not only would students take out your laundry from the dryer, but the cheap ### bastards would actually take out your laundry when you have a lot of time still left on your dryer so they didn't have to pay to dry their clothes.

Almost every time I'd go there, there would be a wet pile of cloths of someones lying there. I had that happen to me once, came back knowing I had 10 mins left on my timer and sure enough there were my cloths wet as all hell on the table and someone elses in my dryer with 10 mins left. I didn't give them the same respect when they came back finding their clothes wet and lying on the dirty floor all over the place...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

I wait to see if they are coming back for a few minutes, then take the clothes out. I don't fold them, though :-). I've also taken wet clothes out of a washing machine when it has been sitting unattended for a while and I am in need of the machine. I wouldn't mind if someone took my dried laundry out of the dryer but I sure as heck would mind if it were still wet! Generally, when I was drying clothes in the laundromat I would use the smallest unit of time and purchase that because different clothes would dry at different times, so I would go through, pull out the dried stuff, then put more time on for the wet stuff so I generally hung around the laundromat the whole time.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

When we lived in our apartment in Canada I always set my timer for my laundry, we lived just down the hallway from the laundry room. As soon as my timer went off I headed down to get it, one day I walked in as the buzzer was going and there was already someone taking out my stuff.Yes it made me angry, I thought it was extremely rude for someone to think that they could touch my clothes. Mostly because I have issues about people touching my clean clothes with possible dirty or smokey hands.

My own husband smokes (outside only, never in the house or car), and I ask him constantly to wash his hands after he smokes because everything he touches takes on that smell. I never took anyones stuff out, I waited up to 45 minutes before for them to come.. I dont want to touch their clothes as much as I dont want someone else to touch mine.

Again luckily we lived down the hall from the laundry room, I may have had a different point of view if I had to lug my laundry up and down the stairs.. LOL

Folding ur laundry = payment of bras! I like red ones!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

When I was doing laundry at my boyfriend's apt last week, I needed to use the dryer & when I opened it, there were clothes in it. I just took them out & placed it on top & put my stuff in. I didn't have a problem with it. After all it is a PUBLIC machine.

Btw, the pile of clothes were still there the next morning!

When it comes to laundrymats, I don't see a problem taking stuff out when the cycle's done. Again, its Public & people should expect it if they're not paying attention.

My 2 cents

Ewwww...creepy!! Or maybe there's a bra thief loose in your building - a good bra is really hard to come by sometimes.

I won't take people's stuff out of the dryer...mostly because I wouldn't want them touching my stuff. Sure it's clean, but you never know what kind of weirdo might get their hands on your undies or whatever  That, and the fact that I'd rather keep my mouth shut than start a confrontation.

Hubby, on the other hand, has no qualms about confronting anyone who annoys him in the slightest - he'd probably take someone's clothes out before the time was up...and even dump them on the floor for good measure!

We are such opposites sometimes; but we seem to balance each other out quite well so it all works out in the end :)

"Я тебя люблю. Эти слова имеют мою жизнь в них."

Laundromats (or washaterias as they call them here) in Houston are having major line ups of people. It's been a week since Hurricane Ike came through and half the city is still without power. Imagine 2 million people all of a sudden needing to use the laundromat.

I'm glad my power is back on.

Liz Legend, you should have told that lady that you reserved the dryer the day before.
