Yes you need to take both copies of the AP with you when you travel, the CBP officer will stamp them and return one copy to you.

You need to use the AP every time you want to reenter the US until you have been approved for your Greencard.

Have a wonderful trip.

Just wondered what happens on the second trip when you only have one left?

!! ALL PAU!

You get to keep the copy. They just use it as proof that you have the AP. After you've used it once, there will be a stamp in your passport to show that. Then they will enter you into the system again and issue you a new I-94.
