I'm a UK citizen currently visiting my boyfriend in the USA (We applied for a K1 visa about a month ago, I'm just visiting him until it progresses) I originally planned to stay for 2 weeks and return back to England on 29th September, however I don't have to be home in a hurry for anything and really want to stay longer. (Changing my flight is also easy- for a fee.)

I know that a tourist's visa or green card allows a visit to the USA for up to 90 days (My green card has 14th December marked on it) but my question is: Is it alright to stay for extra time after having told the immigrations officer that my visit was only for 2 weeks?

I don't intend to overstay the 90 days at all, so I think it would be fine.. but I'm worried that officials would think I lied to them about the length of my stay if anything came up, and I don't want to delay the progress of my K1.

Thanks in advance for any replies :star:

You can remain in the US (without Overstay) for as long as your I-94 is valid (if that's Dec.14, can stay until that day).

Agreed you can remain in the USA up to the date on your I-94w (VWP) just make sure that you are outside the US before that date.

Have a good extended vacation

Have a good extended vacation

Remember VWP passport holders can only stay up to 90 days, unless he/she is granted extend from the USCIS.

Don't let the choices chose you, chose the choices that you want.

People using the VWP can not get an extension on the I-94W, Extensions are only available to B1/B2 visa holders
