Hi everyone,

We are filing our status lifting in April, but would like to travel back to see hubby's family in August of 2009. Is travel possible in the wait time after one files? If it is, and my husband could travel using the I-797C Notice of Action, what is the current wait time for this paper in NYC?

Thank you for your help!

Once you file, you will recieve an NOA that extends the green card for one year. I believe the first sentence on the paper is you are allowed to work and travel. Just remember that when the Green Card expires, you MUST have that document with you or you will not be allowed to get back in the country. You usually receive the NOA no more than 2 weeks after you file. You'll have it by August no problem.
