Republican Senator Hagel: Palin isn't qualified

"STEPHANOPOULOS: But Senator Biden, you did go beyond talking about Pakistan. You were asked: Is he (Obama) ready? You said, "I think he can be ready, but right now I don't believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training."

BIDEN: I think I stand by the statement."

Forgetting something?

STEPHANOPOULOS: Do you still stand by the statement?

BIDEN: That was a year ago. He's learned a hell of a lot.

STEPHANOPOULOS: So he's developed...

STEPHANOPOULOS: ... on the campaign trail?

BIDEN: Well, what we're talking about, here, is that he has repeatedly, since then, said he would not negotiate unconditionally -- meaning him sitting down alone, right off the bat, with these leaders.

He's talked about his secretary of state, his secretary of defense.

As a matter of fact, his statements he's using have mirrored the statements the rest of us have been talking about. This is a fellow who, I think, shorthanded an answer that, in fact, was the wrong answer, in my view, saying, I would, within the first year -- it implied he'd personally sit down with anybody who wanted to sit down with him.

That's not what he meant. That's not what he has said, since then, for the last year, or thereabouts. And so, I think, that he's fully capable of understanding what's going on.

To put this in context, the policy that Bush has pursued, and McCain will continue, has been an abject failure. We are weaker in the Middle East. We are weaker around the world. Terrorism is stronger than it ever was. Iran is closer to a bomb.

Just by any measure -- any measure -- what has their policy wrought? A disaster -- it's been an absolute disaster.

Oh, well that's different. I see now, he "learned a hell of a lot" about the Senate, and the federal government in Washington in 144 days, and now he's mastered the Presidency and all it comprises in about a year.......

Yep, I get it now <clucking tongue and rolling eyes>.....

It's different with Obama..... he's the messiah.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Yes, you certainly get it- the difference between campaign comments taken completely out of context, and on-the-job comments made while in office.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Biden clarified that his statement was made based on his - as he has since learned - misunderstanding of a certain answer that Obama gave on a certain question regarding foreign policy approaches. But who am I talking to? It's not like you're interested anyways.

By the way, if I hadn't all that much to do, I'd dig up all the disqualifying statements that the other GOP contenders made about McSame while they're now all lining up behind him. It's the difference between a primary and the general election. Happens every four years. I take it you've been through a few of them. Shouldn't be too hard for you to discern the common pattern. ;)

WASHINGTON - Nebraska Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel said his party's vice presidential nominee, Sarah Palin, lacks foreign policy experience and called it a "stretch" to say she's qualified to be president.

"She doesn't have any foreign policy credentials," Hagel said in an interview published Thursday by the Omaha World-Herald. "You get a passport for the first time in your life last year? I mean, I don't know what you can say. You can't say anything."

...

"I think it's a stretch to, in any way, to say that she's got the experience to be president of the United States," Hagel said.

McCain and other Republicans have defended Palin's qualifications, citing Alaska's proximity to Russia. Palin told ABC News, "They're our next-door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska."

Hagel took issue with that argument. "I think they ought to be just honest about it and stop the nonsense about, 'I look out my window and I see Russia and so therefore I know something about Russia,'" he said. "That kind of thing is insulting to the American people."

And what makes Obama qualified to be president? Even his VP candidate thinks he is not ready . And this VP candidate thinks H. CLinton should have been picked up as VP candidate because she is more qualified than him.

Just words .

There's big difference between running against Obama and kissing up to him for a VP slot. Biden thought Obama was unqualified in August, 2007 during the debates. What does Biden know anyway he was only in the Senate for 36 years. By May, 2008 Biden was out of the race his career in the Senate was coming to an end but his last hurrah could be as VP. Of course he's going to butter Obama up to get the VP slot.

There's another one for your pattern.

Question: If the person who stated that decided down the road that the person is indeed "qualified", how come you're still telling us about what they no longer believe? I'm sure anyone can read through the bullshit in this post to see it's your opinion, not Biden's.

It's not to suggest that Obama is qualified, I don't think any Republican or Democrat Pres/VP candidate on this ticket is. However, I had to laugh at how you're trying to sound objective here when really you're just being a hack.

I heard a day or two ago that there was a big protest against Sarah Palin in Alaska. One of the biggest demonstrations in the State's history.

How many were there? Like 15 people? j/k

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.
