No, we did everything just like everyone else. Sent in the paperwork to the service center. I did not have residence in Buenos Aires to do DCF.

As far as cost. It cost me the $355 when I filed. Then the $470 at the NVC.

The only extra it cost me was the $131 I had to pay for the Visa fee for the embassy to get the K3 interview scheduled.

Note: If you just wanted to do K-3, you did not need to spend the extra $470 to NVC, you could have saved that money and applied it toward AOS from K-3.

Other option is to continue pursuing counselor processing, and return to home country and interview for the CR-1.

I paid the $470 because I ended up with the CR1, not the K3. My CR1 was complete at the NVC before the K3 interview and my interview was changed from a K3 to a CR1 interview. So my wife entered the US on a CR1 visa.

Now days for most embassies a CR1 visa takes just as long as a K3 visa, so it would be a waste of money to even file the I-129F and then file AOS. You can now pay your bills from the NVC online and be done with it in about a month, month and a half. So I highly recommend the CR1.

HI everyone, i'm new in this forum and i found it looking for information about I-130 form because my girlfriend Shannon (north american) now my wife and I Gabriel (Argentine) just got married on September 5th of this year here in Argentina, she is living here since May 20th and in the beginning of the next year she'll go back to the US. We want to apply for the I-130 and we decided that is better to do the whole process and me waiting here in Argentina instead than me going there with K3 visa because is so much paper work and then you have to Adjust Status and cost like a Thousand dollars but i will be able to go sooner with the K3 and when I'm there i have to ask for a permisson of work so we decided to wait for the CR-1 because once i enter the US i can work but i think i so much longer the process. So we don't know what now because today arrived to Oregon, US all the paper work (I-130 form, and the two g-325 forms) and now all the papers are in my wife's mom house waiting for us to tell her what to do with the papers. We also read that if you apply in the embassy is more expedite the process so we are waiting for that. What should we do?? wait for CR-1 ? go with the K3 visa?? Please help, this forum is great, formed by very helpfull and friendly people. Saludos!

PS: Sorry about my bad english punctuation and mistakes.

The bottom line: If you are looking to get your spouse into the United States as soon as possible then the K-3 visa is the way to go. However, if speed is not essential and if it is important that your spouse is a permanent resident from the moment he/she enters the US and will be able to work upon entry into the country, then the Immigrant (CR-1 and IR-1) visas are a better fit.

Actually, if you do everything correctly, you can get the CR1 in the same time that it takes for the K3. This is what I did.

I want to say, thanks to every single person that posted a reply trying to help.

We decided that next week when the translation of the marriage certificate is done we'll apply from Oregon where al the paper work it's is. We will send it to the chicago PO BOX, and then they forward that to the CSV? That's what i understand.

Another doubt...we will send The i-130 form, the two g-325 forms, photochopies of all the pages of the pettitioner passport, marriage certificate translated, the pictures type passport and the doubt is do i have to send the payment of the $355 with this package?

Yes, you send in the money with this package.

And note, you can do the translation yourself and add a statement that you are cometent to translate. You do not need to pay someone to do it for you. It is not like when you got married in Argentina. I did all of the translations myself for our visa process.

We are almost in the same boat. My boyfriend is Argentine and I am from the US.

Was it hard for your wife to come there to get married in Argentina? What kind of visa did she have to get to come there to be married and live with you?We do not know what to do.I hope we can stay in contact with you and your wife because we are going through the same thing. I am going to Argentina very soon in March. Do you think it is easier to get the visa if we are already married in Argentina like you did???

Has anyone told you how long a CR1 visa will take? Someone told me that it was the best and cheapest

visa to get. What do you think? You can send me a private message if you think it is better ok? Please

help us with this information as I will be going to Argentina soon.
