AOS-Filing (or Compiling) in October 2008

We filed the end of October and got our NOA1 in the beginning of November and NOTHING since. No appointment for Biometrics, no RFE, nothing.

We went ahead and got the immunizations and got Dr. Arnold to do the I-693 which we rec'd back from her today... and now I don't know what to do with it... Hold on in case they send an RFE, or is there some way to send it in NOW (to avoid an RFE delay)???? I wouldn't have a clue where to send it or how to identify it as a part of the previous package.

We registered for email notifications but nothing there either... next week it will be 2 months since we sent the AOS packet...

I don't know why I'm even saying this, but this seems really SLOW... compared to other timelines I've seen the Biometrics doesn't seem to take so long to get scheduled...

Anyone have any suggestions of what to do with the I693 at this point?

Thanks!

K

I would just hold on to it. Better to have it in hand, than lost. Your petition could have been shipped off to a different place and getting it all matched up would take longer than dealing with an RFE. It's not going to be that big of a deal to get an RFE. You're together and married. It's not like waiting on the K1 in separate countries. We sent nothing but the DS30?? vaccination report from the K1 medical, and have EAD and AP approved. All the shots were complete, so they do have a complete record unless they get technical about the TB skin test (which by the rules, they should.)

It's a little early to have your EAD/AP. There's some September people still waiting on them. And I read so many different stories about getting an interview date, but never having biometrics. And others get biometric appointments with NOA1. Our first email was the notice that EAD/AP were approved. Nothing before that. The whole process gets kinda random for AOS. People are adjusting from so many different situations that it's hard to compare. If they do transfer your case to CSC, you will get notification in postal mail.

Hey everybody, I'm just stopping in to say hi...

We're getting married tomorrow!

Muy bueno Susita!! :dance::dance:

OK, get a load of this if you want to start your day laughing :) ... We had to postpone our wedding (to next Tuesday, Dec 23, so no big deal) because my shipment - scheduled to get here for today - arrived suddenly yesterday afternoon at around 3.30. Thank heavens Michael had just got home... The whole situation was comical for lack of a better word. He called the lady who was due to celebrate our marriage and arranged for it to be held on Tuesday, same time, same place - then proceeded to help the delivery guy to bring all 46 boxes up here. Some of them were in danger of falling apart, but the contents so far seem to be in good shape. Now our living room is strewn with boxes, and we'll have to start buying some new furniture in order to put everything in place (not my clothes, though - most of them are already in the closets). Well, it was an interesting day to say the least... Good thing we had no witnesses or invitees coming along :D !

Well that's kind of a good news/bad news story, isn't it?

My stuff arrived today. YAY :dancing:

But we had to postpone the marriage. BOO
:protest:

So we set it up for next Tuesday. YAY
:dancing:

Well you poor dear. You get your share of things not going how you thought they would, but that's life.

Well  VIBES~~~ for your next attempt at a wedding date.

Hey guys...

We got married on Friday night, almost got cancelled because we had a huge snowstorm here in NY.

It was so funny, Luis never saw snow before and then we got hit with this, you guys should have seen his face, lol.

So we can officially send in the AOS packet now... although we have to somehow come up with 1050 - I guess after Christmas, lol. Luis starts school at the community college here in February and I start my last semester of college at the end of Jan.

Things are just coming along :star:

How is everybody else doing?

First off, best wishes to Susita and Luis for their wedding :) Hopefully tomorrow will finally be our turn....

Just a question for all of you who have already applied for AoS, or are ready to do so: how did you do to get the marriage certificate in as short an amount of time as possible? Yesterday I was reading the FAQ section again, but I am afraid it might be somewhat out of date. Did you take it to be registered yourselves, or did you trust the celebrant to do so? And how long did the whole process take you? Thank you in advance for your responses! :)

Congratulations Suzy. Married!

Can you remember when the married part seemed so far off while we waited and waited in that K1 thread? Raffaella was convinced she was never going to get to the US. Now here we are...married by Christmas.

Highway Star-- the laws will vary by state, but here's what we did. We got a license. The officiant signed it after the wedding, but we kept it rather than depending on him to file it. (Nobody cares about your stuff as much as you do rule.) The next day we took it back to the place where we got the license. (County Clerk's office) They registered the marriage in the county records, embossed and signed the the license (now marriage certificate), then gave it back to us in about 5 minutes. We asked (and paid for!) a certified copy. That consisted of a photocopy that was reduced in size so there was room at the bottom for the addition of the "this is a certified copy" official wording. They signed and embossed it with a county seal circle. That's what we sent in with AOS.

If you call the place where you bought the license, they can probably tell you if they will register it on the spot and give it back rather than mailing to you at a later date. Good luck. Hope your day is perfect tomorrow.

Well, we finally did it... We're married at last :)! No fuss, no frills, just the two of us and the celebrant, and I am very happy that things were that way. It was a moment just for the two of us... In the coming year, if we want, we may decide to throw a little party for Michael's coworkers, and possibly some of the people we met through 'our' music forum. For the time being, we're happy just being on our own, furnishing our nice home, and enjoying our hard-earned life together.

Hello my friends!

Congratulations for your marriage Susy and Raffaella!

It is almost unbelievable that everything worked out for all of us and we were all married and together with our loves for Christmas!

I was doing some thinking yesterday and I am so grateful for all the wonderful things that happened in my life this passed year. Being with my baby for Christmas was like a dream come true. And I know all of you feel the same way!

We went to Lee's parents on Wednesday and came back Friday. All his family came down for dinner on Christmas day and we opened our gifts. It was just great and they made me really feel part of the family. I am missing my family like crazy especially over the holidays but being surrounded by nice people made everyhting easier. I was on the phone with them for hours and I promissed we will spend o lot of Christmases together!

I have some good news. I got my EAD and AP approved on December 23rd! Everything is coming together! Now I don't have to worry about not being present to my own wedding party in Romania...lol

I hope your Christmas was magical!

Nick got both his AP papers and EAD card. I love the VJ timeline with all those boxes at the top turned blue and checked off.

K-1 Visa - check

Enter USA - check

EAD Red - check

AP - check

I remember when they were all gray and it seemed like we would never get that NOA2 for the I-129F petition.

We had a great Christmas. The best I've had in years. It's the first time we totally decorated inside and out since at least 2001. My kids were excited because it was like Christmas used to be before various sad things happening close to Christmas put the damper on our time for festivities. They even commented, "you're back to being the Mom you used to be." Nick enjoyed all of it and everybody loves him. He fits in perfectly.

Here's my Christmas tree.

Thanks to all of you for the wedding wishes :) ! Yesterday it was a week since we finally got married, and we are happier than ever! Tonight we're having lentils for dinner in the Italian tradition - they are supposed to bring luck and prosperity, which everyone needs in life. Hopefully we'll be able to apply for AOS soon. For the time being, I wish all of you a very happy New Year, and thanks for the support you gave me back in those 'grey' days!
