ok well my baby sister is taking italian and she has come so involved with is she has actually thought of moving ther how ever she would like to be a US also Italian, Dual citizenship i suggested however all the info i can find on the internet is basicly the other way around, the only thing i found was that you nedde to look in your family history if you are italian decent???? if anyone can help me on this matter id be very greatfull :)

Dec 25 2004 I asked him to MARRY me and he said Yes

March 19 2005 took out my passport now i need to wait

April 19 2005 I GOT MY PASSPORT !!!!

April 21 2005 NENNE booked his flight he get here on June 29th YES!!!!

May 9 2005 I-130 Packet and Packet 3 are being sent off to us !!!

May 15 2005 Recived packet 1-3

June 29 2005 Nenne arrived in Puerto Rico

July 2 2005 GOT MARRIEDbadassbuddy_com-inlove2.gif

July 11 2005 Got our Marriage Certificate

Leaving August 17th to Australia and file for DCF !!!

July 19 2005 Got interview date on Sept. 6

August 17th Got to AUSTRALIA !!!

SEPTEMBER 6 DCF (CR1)WE GOT APPROVED !!!!

September 9 2005 Recived VISA in mail

November 24 2005 Nennes POE GUAM

November 26 2005 Arrived in Puerto Rico

Married for 3 years and counting

September 10 2007 sending off the I-571

Sept 2007 sent forms Aug 2008 got 10 yr Green Card

Timeline

Each country dictates the requirements for citizenship. You cannot just simply desire to be another citizenship and have it magically happen... You have to meet parentage (for some countries it is a 2 generations look back) or current residence requirements or you are SOL Unless your parents or grandparents are of Italian descent (or whatever Italy's specific requirements are), or she is currently living there for the required time, not much can be done.

parentage = via PARENTS or GRANDPARENTS

Yes, it does count, there is no limit to generations for the Italian citizenship if you have Italian citizens as ancestors. BTW...all your sister needs to do is to get in touch with the Italian consulate of her area and they will tell her exactly what to do, what papers to fill out etc. It gets done through them. If you tell me what state she lives in I can look it up for you, there might be everything she needs to know on the consulate page already. I am very familiar with their offices being an Italian citizen myself, I had to so several paperworks with them for different reasons. If you prefer to PM me feel free.

NATURALIZATION

28th july 2007 - N-400 mailed to VSC

(exactly on the 90th day mark...applications NOT returned although some scared me into thinking they could have!)

30th july 2007 - N-400 delivered to VSC

11th august 2007 - Delivery Confirmation receipt received

17th september 2007 - Money Order (FINALLY!) cashed

9th november 2007 - NOA! (notification period given 180 days)

21th november 2007 - Biometrics appointment letter

18th december 2007 - Biometrics appointment in Baltimore, MD completed

29th march 2008 - FINALLY received letter with interview date!

8th may 2008 H 8:40 AM - Interview in Baltimore-APPROVED!

8th may 2008 H 3:00 pm (yes same day, crazy!) Oath Ceremony in Baltimore

24th may 2008 - US Passport application mailed off

6th june 2008 - US Passport received in the mail!!!
