Hello,

they told me on monday at the consulate that the K1-documents are in the envelope. According to the DoS-website she doesn't need a new medical if her AOS-interview is within one year.

You should make sure she gets a test and maybe additional shots to get a shot reccord. The vaccinations information is necessary.

About the translator it could be helpful if you encourage her to learn and speak english. The AOS interview takes some time. So normally she should be able to improve her english.

Opps, guess you forgot to tell her to get a copy of her vaccination record as some have suggested here on VJ. It makes it a lot easier if you have that.

Are all adjustment of status applicants required to have a medical examination?

Most applicants for adjustment of status are required to have a medical examination. The medical examination must be conducted by a civil surgeon who has been designated by the USCIS. The examination must be documented using Form I-693, Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status.

EXCEPTIONS:

2. Ks: If you were admitted to the United States as a fiance(e) (K-1), child of a fiance(e) (K-2), Spouse of a U.S. citizen (K-3), or child of K-3 (K-4), and received a medical examination prior to admission, then you do not require another medical examination as long as your application for adjustment of status (Form I-485) is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. You will, however, be required to submit a vaccination supplement with our adjustment of status application. The vaccination supplement must be completed by a designated civil surgeon.

Yes. Get an interpreter for the interview.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

My wife didn't speak or understand much English and we took an interpreter (one of her friend's husband who is bilingual.) The interviwer spoke quite distinctly (a little slower than most) and my wife was able to respond to him without a translation for all but 2 questions (she didn't understand espionage and biometrics - and her interpreter also had trouble translating those technical words ) Our interviewer did ask me why I wasn't translating (I told him my Spanish wasn't that great either!) The local interpreters here charge a flat fee of $150 for the interview session (whether it lasts 10 minutes or 3 hours!) Good Luck

I don't understand how your wife was admitted without her immunisation being done. I came here on a K-3 visa and even though I had the immunisations when I was a child I had to redo them as my mother had no records. I have my vaccination sheet ready to take to my AOS interview when scheduled. However you had better find out what immunisations are required for your wife and start getting them done.
