Traveling and Transit visas

I was wondering if it is possible to travel with this airline called Aitalia, I found on Vayama.com, coming from Nigeria to the U.S with no problem. The itinerary is as follows....Lagos to Rome to Chicago. Would he need a transit visa? Has anyone flown Aitalia Airways? Could someone tell me which airline would be ok without a transit visa. My fiance and I are so confused. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There are posts on this forum about transit visas and if you do a search there was a relatively recent one where the website to look up which countries required transit visas was listed. I did a quick search and if I can post the link properly, you'll see it below. If not, sorry.....but you can do a search for "transit visa" yourself and you'll find the stuff I found.

since may 2008 Luthansa do not need transit visa from nigeria,also i think KLM too

Does anyone know how long it takes to get a transit visa from the French Consulate in Nigeria and where a person needs to go to get it? I've seen conflicting info on how to go about getting it as I've searched on google.

Just incase you were not aware, the airlines you asked about Alitalia is having financial problems and may go into backruptcy. I would consider another airline. If they are still your best option, be sure to buy your tickets with a credit card. A few airlines servicing Seattle went under this year and the news stories reported that people who paid with credit were able to get the charges revered through their card...but people who paid debit or cash did not get a refund.

Thanks for the input. My fiance isn't talking to tough about Aitalia anyway. He'd rather go KLM.
