That's pretty much everyone on this forum right now. My husband is Ghanaian. There are lots of folks here with Nigerian SOs. Maybe more specific questions would get you a better response.

Look at posts that have already been up and those in the archives to get an idea of people's journies here so far.

Welcome to VJ and Welcome to Sub-Sahara Forum!

How about focusing on the AOS part? I haven't seen as much discussion on that phase in this subforum.

Its because AOS is less uniform and predictable than the actual K1 process. There is no way to forecast how the process is going to go, its even hard to make predictions for people who file in the same month.

And, AOS is not dependent on the country of your SO, unlike the visa process. Its more of a hit and miss process than anything. People are randomly selected for interviews. If you get transferred to CSC, you may get your approval in a month, or a year.

Its all over the map.

There are a few of us on this forum in AOS. Ummmm.............what to say, what to say

I'm in AOS. I filed my paperwork. It was very easy to complete. Getting the vaccination portion of the medical done was a breeze using the dr in TX that is listed here on VJ. I didn't get anything sent back or anything. (Thank the Lord) Now, I'm waiting. AOS is kind of about waiting. But it's a better waiting cause your SO is now your husband and here with you keeping you "busy". (which may be why Zee is so giddy!)

Initial AOS was fine..except they lost our paperwork and had to get our Senators involved to get our interview. We were approved at our interview and got the card 2 weeks later. We just successfully removed conditions, no interview--but we did get an RFE--for no good reason. However, we just sent in even more evidence and we have the card in hand only 10 days later. Next step is citizenship in May.

February 17, 2005--mailed in I 129F to CSC!

February 24, 2005--1st NOA

March 15, 2005--2nd NOA

April 11, 2005--Fiance receives Packet 3

May 19, 2005 Fax Checklist(Nigeria police report finally arrives)

June 6, 2005-- Interview Date!!!!Visa approved!!

June 18, 2005--Fiancee arrives in Hawaii!

August 14, 2005--wedding in Oregon

September 12, 2005--sent in AOS

September 20, 2005--1st NOA AOS

September 23, 2005--Walk-in biometrics completed

October 1, 2005--fingerprints received/processing resumed

November 26, 2005--EAD card received in mail

June 7, 2006--contact senators about AOS

June 28, 2006--senator says interview date is for August 14!!

August 14, 2006--AOS interview and 1 year wedding anniversary

I noticed you recently joined VJ .... welcome!

As others have mentioned, the AOS is easy. Once you have filed your papers its a matter of waiting. My husband and I were called in for an interview, and the interview was SUPER easy. As a matter of fact, I think we may have over prepared. In addition to the feedback you are receiving here, may I also bring to your attention that VJ has a forum specifically for AOS. Perhaps you will find some useful information there as well.

ALL things work TOGETHER for GOOD!

Well the K-1 process is more shaky then the actual AOS process. I guess the AOS process is a a little less nerve recking because your Fiance is here with you...My husband is Ghanian..and thanks to all the lovely people on VJ the process as far as the K-1 part meaning getting him here was SUCCESSFUL because of the people here on VJ who helped me. I will always have fond memories of my journey and will always feel blessed that I joined VJ because I was a nervous reck and now I am enjoying marriage life!

There are alot of Nigerian K-1 filers too so they will be able to help you with the whole embassy part over there...good luck!

Thanks for the response, for the recommendations noted.

I've had my hands full these few days, waiting makes me nervous and having severe toothache just made it worse.

But coming here and reading experiences from people like y'all just gives me comfort, an assurance that says, it ll only take time, i wont be catapulted back.....lol, we are together now, everything's gonna be alright!

So even though I'm still nervous i know... the only hitch would be delays... and someday it will come.

I also made a friend from here and we are making plans to dine out soon, and talk about experiences you know.... ladies talk, I get a bit excitement now instead of being...bored...bored! bored!! BORED!!!

Thanks y'all, I'm glad i stumbled across the VJ family link.

Looking forward to many more.

P.S

I know how excited it makes me when i get notice of a response, so il try leaving a few lines to welcome newbies too so i can share that same feeling of excitement i get when i read your responses.

Thank you...

Love works!!
