Hi,

My fiance is arriving here on the 26th of September and I was wondering what questions do they usually ask at the port of entry?

I know they go through the packet that the embassy gives you and you usually have to give them the address that you are going too.

Do you also have to show them pictures?

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

We came through JFK. The IO opened our package and asked what visa he was coming on and then did biometrics. He was not asked where he was staying and definitely not asked to show any pictures.

Questions vary depending on the IO. They sometimes ask you the same question twice to try catch you out to ensure the info you're giving is correct and true. Click on the reviews link above (Reviews: Embassy/USCIS POE) and choose the POE you wish and have a read, it may help. They don't normally ask for pictures but they do instruct you that have 90 days in which to marry etc. sometimes they ask "what do you do in two years time?"

The best of luck with your new lives together (F)

My fiance just arrived in the US on the 15th of September, so two days ago, and she said they were extremely nice and asked her when we intended on getting married, then that's all. She said also that she hadn't filled out her customs form or whatever, and the immigration officer filled it out for her.

She also said that when she presented her HUGE stack of papers to the officer, he literally looked and it and said "oh s***" at the size of the stack of papers, and that he was really nice/funny as well.

She came through Sea-tac International airport (Seattle, WA).

Hi MN1980,

In my situation, they questioned me and my boyfriend (now husband) for 2hrs (yes, two hours!) during the POE at the Canada/US border. No joking there, as they asked a million questions and searched everything that we had in the car with us then....(see my VJ timeline for more info about that)

Lol....I still have nightmares about that POE experience. Oh well, that was 2yrs ago and we've moved on from that, as we're now still happily married and now living together in the USA. Funny, when we cross over the border nowadays, we've never had any trouble since. Just 10 mins, in and out between the USA and Canada...

Anyways, good luck on your POE and the rest of your immigration journey. I'm sure if you have all your paperwork ready, your fiance should be ok coming into America very quickly (I guarantee, less than 2 hrs, or less than 1/2 hr even for you...).

By the way, "Welcome to America!!!"

mbc

what does mbc mean?

My point of entry experience was very easy. I sat in the waiting area for a few minutes until he called my name. He handed me back my passport with the I 94 and reminded me to file for AOS.

My port of entry is San Francisco Int'l Airport. I was made to sit and wait for 30 minutes inside the Immigration office while they check my passport and I-94 and then I was instructed to return to the counter where I had my finger print scanned. They opened the K1 visa packet and then they bid me good bye and wished me luck.

Hokey Smoke!

Rocky: "Baby, are they still mad at us on VJ?"

Bullwinkle: "No, they are just confused."

I went through Dublin. Was not asked any questions. Just asked to wait outside the office, took my fingers prints. Then asked if I knew what the next step in the process. Once I told them I knew what todo, I was wished the very best. Great experience.
