she did the equivilent of walking through stanstead and claiming to have visited England. The soldiers at Shannon Airport never leave the airport. It is a condition of them refueling there.

I have a conspiracy theory that she was sent to Kuwait on the off chance that she might be picked for VP later in the year. They were setting her up in case they had to pull her out. Her sister, when interviewed during the convention, said that she had heard rumours about it for months, but was surprised when it actually happened. Pretty good timing on the son being sent off to Iraq too. Nice to have the moral high ground on that one!
