I had my interview at the embassy in colombia,,, but the consul was not entirely convinced of our relation. So she suggested my fiance should travel from the US to my country for a new interview. This happened about 4 months ago, and the consul stayed with my passport.

Now my fiance or EX-fiance..... Yes, she does not answer either email or the phone,I think she found me a replacement....... so the question is:

Should I just go to the embassy and claim my passport?

How can I end up all this mess..... In case I want to apply for another status in the future?

Thanks

All you have to do is go to the embassy and get your passport. She's the one who has to deal with the USCIS once the embassy sends the case back.

Good luck!

You can apply for another visa whenever you want but whether the CO approves it or not is another issue.

WOW I'm really sorry to hear that. All that time spent together all the frustration of waiting to be approved and your fiancé won't even answer the phone? I mean not to mention not caring enough to tell you if you're still a potential couple? I really wish you the best and hope you get your passport back.

I already bought the pin # to arrange a new interview date... just to go get my passport...

How and what should I tell the CO, to close this case?

This sucks bigtime!

I lost my girlfriend, and I'm blaming it on the CO, because If I would've been there with her, things would be even different...

Although things happen for a reason.........

And the other mayor thing is... my family lives in the US.... I hardly get to see them, once in a loooong while, and now, aplying for a tourist visa is a sure denial!

Thanks Diana in advance for all your advices,

Before you make assumptions: Is your fiancee in the hospital? Is she in a hurricane area without power? Have you contacted any of her relatives to ensure that she is OK?

Your case is yet another example of why BOTH members of the couple should be on the consular premises during the interview, and yet more justification why SOME (not a lot of) evidence of "proof of relationship" ought to be sent with the initial I-129F filing -- this way, the consul cannot refuse to accept evidence brought to the interview and cannot deny the existence of the proof already filed.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Thanks Diana in advance for all your advices,

I'm pretty sure they're going to ask you on the status of her trip to Colombia for a second interview and you'll have to be honest with them and say it's a no go. Again, the best thing to do with COs is to be honest with them.

As for blaming the CO on this one, I highly disagree. He/she was just doing a job and didn't deny but gave you a chance to go back for a second interview. If your fiancée is ok, nothing has happened to her and hasn't been in contact by choice, then you have no one else to blame but her. I know it's hard not having your loved one with you but this should only make you stronger not just disappear.

But like you said, things happen for a reason.

I completely agree, DON'T GO TO THE INTERVIEW WITHOUT YOUR FIANCE
