Non K1/K3 visa and no interview.

Hi guys,

I received some information today that was quite exciting but I don't want to be excited because someone on the USCIS line were just misinformed.

Today I called them after waiting 90 days and no word on my EAD and what I've been told is that there are actually no holds in my files and not receiving the EAD card might be because my files are in a juris...(that's all I could understand about the name) office, meaning that they might be ready to make a decision, based on what I sent in and no red flags at all, well, that would be awesome if that happened, but I never heard of such thing before so I'm wondering if I should actually be excited or it was just some delirium by the lady I talked to LOL

She did put in a request for service on the EAD and said I should hear from them in 30 days and if not to call again, also said infopass wouldn't help me any and they would do the same thing they did over the phone.

Has everyone heard of something like that?Please share your opinions, thank you.

Maybe you'll be lucky and not have an interview. I would be suprised if this was the case, but you never know with immigration.

I didn't even know such thing was possible, never heard of it before, I hope so, that'd be cool but I don't want to get my hopes up just to find out that the lady was wrong and there's absolutely no way that could happen.

Don't get your hopes up! 1-800 is known as the misinformation line!

Oh and an infopass is useful, they can give you more information than a CS rep can.

I wish you good luck but don't hold your breath. I have never heard of it happening.

That's what I thought, it really sux!

My local office is 2 1/2 hours away from here, that's 5 hours back and forth plus whatever time it'd take there, do you think it's worth it?I don't wanna travel for 5 hours to hear that they can't help me or something like that, I'd probably shoot someone in the face LOL

I would wait for the EAD, unless you can afford to waste a day at USCIS. But as you filed pretty recently, I highly doubt there is any information to be gotten from an Infopas (perhaps you could know if your background check passed). Your EAD should be right around the corner.

ETA: if you do go for an Infopass, ask for very specific questions. If you just ask them for an update, they probably just say "everything is fine". If you are gonna make the trip, might as well make it worthwhile.

What lady ment is that your file is at the office which has jurisdiction over your file and most likely it is your local office. EAD is being processed in another office where USCIS process all the EADs. I think this means that you should receive your interview appointment letter soon since your file made it to the local office. I saw other people on here getting approvals without interview but they all had K1/K3 (means they already had interview in a consulate when they were granted a visa) and they were transferred to California Service Center before approval.

I'm adjusting from J-1, too. I received my EAD. Nothing is happening with my AOS, so far.

BTW, I saw today how misinformed they all are and just gave up on getting any excited about those informations, I talked to 3 different people and each of them gave me a different answer, this is so ridiculous!They didn't even have a record that I called or requested service on my EAD, the first lady said I could do that but the computer wouldn't let her, she transferred me to a guy that was rude and said I had to wait 45 more days and I wasn't outside the timelines and said the other lady didn't know what she was doing and was gonna report her.Then I called again, talked to a southern lady that put on a request for them to work on my file, I'm beginning to wonder if they just say that to "make you happy" coz I find it hard to believe that if it was serious they wouldn't have that on their records.Oh, well, good work USCIS, just keep letting me down, I'm gonna sit back and relax(a little more, since I've been sitting at home for 7 months) and wait for someone to do the job we paid them to do.GRRRRRR

hi there,

My case is adjusting J-1 visa (overstayed by 3 years) I got married while my J-1 was not expired back in 12/2004. I could not file because my husband was waiting for his citizenship (name check) to be naturalized and get the citizenship certificate. He got all that done after 4 years of waiting on (June, 2008)and. I filed my AOS applications in July 18, 2008. I had my biometric done August 2 and no touches eversince. I have no clue where they will send the I-130 application for processing. All they say on the website is my case is at national benefit center and is pending.... I guess they are waiting for it to be marinated befoe they can work on it.

Any ways, keep us posted on your progress. I will do the same.
