I am about to fill out the I-134 and an I-864 tonight and a couple of the questions have me a bit puzzled.

(Bear in mind I am using a co-sponsor)

On I-134, question #11: "I (intend) (do not intend) to make specific contributions to the support of the persons named on item 3." My question is how do I answer that as I am not completely clear on what they want here. I will marry my fiancee as soon as she is back home with me and support her as I would any wife. How would my co-sponsor answer this? I am using my co-sponsor as a safety blanket to ensure her approval. I have the resources to support her but I don't have the tax returns to prove it. In other words I will not need the monetary assistance of my co-sponsor, just the fact of having him to assure the approval.

On I-864, question #1: "I am the sponsor submitting this affidavit of support because-

a. I am the petitioner (I assume this would be the correct response for myself)

d. I am only the joint sponsor (I assume this would be the correct answer for my co-sponsor)

Do both answers seem correct to you?

Thanks for any help on this matter. My mind is starting to go blank about now. lol!

Use the example form to help you fill out the I134.

Not sure why you're filling out the I864. It's not needed until AOS once your fiance is in the US.

Not sure if the example covers question 11 for the co-sponsor but "no" is an acceptable answer here.

Yeah i'm assuming that if the fiance isn't going to make specific contributions that the co-sponsor wont either....but that's just my opinion. ;)

I am filling out both forms because my lawyer said to. Thanks guys!

Ok but you'll be filling out a new I-864 with a current date and current supporting documentation when the time comes to use it. Financial documents need to be as current as practical.

I see. Now, does the I-864 need to be notarized? I know the I-134 does.

I-864 is no longer notarized. Notice there's no place for the Notary to sign.
