Hi Everyone:

Just wanted to stop in and say hello. Have not talked to you guys in a while.

Has anyone takin their oath ? Mine is coming up this coming Wednesday at 10 am. I hear its going to be long.. and friends that had it here in Boston told me to plan in 5 hours. 5 hours in Fenway Park ? Its going to be boring.

They said it takes so long because its alot of people and it takes 4Ever to have them seated.

Well I will keep you posted after Wednesday.

Don't you like ceremonies? Not sure if they are for the participants or the leaders of it to show a display of power and enforce their opinions on you. But hey, this only happens once in your life, so enjoy every second of it. Did read about St. Paul waiting to gather around 1,200 applicants for the oath to be held in a convention center, but was willing to go there just to have the opportunity to say goodbye and good wishes to the USCIS. But fortunately, they had a small gathering of 39 Wisconsinites they had a special ceremony for that only lasted 31 minutes. Perhaps they did that because the Packers beat the pants off the Vikings and just wanted to get rid of us quick.

Just think positively, Thursday, it will be all over, least with the USCIS, then it's the DOS's turn.

Never took the time to figure out the features of this site, time frame for my wife was 31Mar2008 for the N-400 applications to 3Sep2008 for the oath. Everybody seems to want to see the original certificate, but you only get one, and the DOS wants that certificate in their hands, so we are waiting for it to be returned so we can finish up the post oath blues routine. Then I think we will finally be done. Just too many different governmental agencies to deal with.

Hey Nick.. quick question.. how did you go about applying for the passport ? Did you take care of that at the Post Office ?

Went to this site:

http://iafdb.travel.state.gov/

Had a choice of two in my town, city clerk or post office, since the post office opens at 9:00am and the city clerk at 8:00am and wife had to be at work at 9:00 am, chose the city clerk.

This site http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/first/first_830.html has a wizard for filling out the DS-11 and even makes the print smaller if the box is too small for what you have to type in, we used that, and printed it out plus the photos, driver's license, and money. We did not have to make an appointment for the city clerk.

Oh, and they want your original certificate of citizenship, make sure you have copies of it before bringing that in, USCIS will want that if they lose your one and only certificate.

And bring your right hand, have to hold that up to say an oath, that everything you typed and say is the truth and nothing but the truth, so help you, God. Even though they don't take your word for anything, want to see the proof in advance.

Did read about St. Paul waiting to gather around 1,200 applicants for the oath to be held in a convention center
That's just crazy. Crazy!! Here, they do a ceremony every month, and there are typically only 50-60 people.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

Probably you can make another friends of you.
