Joseph Giglio, Senior Academic Specialist and Executive Professor of General Management, Northeastern University:The 100 top urban metropolitan areas in the US account for about 12% of the physical mass, but yet account for 65% of the population, 75% of gross national product. 7 out of every 10 vehicle miles traveled are in urban metropolitan areas. Where is the connection between the realities on the ground having changed, that we've become an urban metropolitan nation, and the allocation of those transportation resources? Those 100 metropolitan areas are the United States' current economic engine, particularly in the global environment.

The above excerpt is from this audio clip - http://www.njtpa.org/Plan/LRP2035/03_joseph_m_giglio.mp3, from 09:25 to 10:02.
