My husband and I would like to be as prepared as possible, and I need to know what is the difference between the forms I864 and I134? Which one should I as the petitioner fill out, and which one should our co-sponsor fill out?

I'd like to have them ready before the consulate even mentions their necessity, so our case can be processed asap.

Also, if my husband's assets are to be included, does he need to fill out a separate form, or do I just include him on mine?

Thanks for your help, everyone!

I-134 is used for NON-Immigrant visas like K-Visas.

I-864 is used for GREEN-CARDS and IMMIGRANT visas like CR-1/IR-1 and for DCF. It is alos used by a K-Visa holder when they adjust status in the USA.

To include a foreign citizen's assets, they will need doculentation explaining how the assets will be transferred to the USA, or evidence that the assets are in the USA, like deposited in a US bank.

thanks for the info:) i figured the 864 would be the one, simply because it seems a bit more complicated. so, does my co sponsor have to fill the 864 also?

If you are using a "Joint sponsor" the yes they too need to provide one. Make the joint sponsor aware of the binding nature if I-864.

Also: for DCF, US citizen/spouse MUST provide I-864, and I-864 REQUIRES proof of US Domicile, hopefully spouse has not given up US-Domicile.

I don't understand...if DCF is for Americans living abroad, how are you also supposed to have US domicile?

I have my official address in the USA registered as my Father's home adress. Does this count?

The American can DCF if they are living abroad on a temporary basis. They prove that it was temporary by showing US Domicile has not been given up.

I-864 requires US domicile, and past year's IRS return.

The OP's profile says K3. Is this thread on the correct forum? If not, the answers are all wrong because K3 uses the I-134. Please clarify which visa process you're using.

Edit: Ok, I see the timeline. Please update the "filed for" in your profile.
