I was just wondering, if/when my fiance can become a permanent resident of the USA, is it possible for him to bring his relatives here to visit -- hoping live here? I am referring to his parents. Thanks

No, meeds to be a Citizen.

Is this the fiancee you have yet to meet?

Thanks for your reply Boiler. Yes, my fiance and I have yet to meet. I was only asking this question so that I know information ahead of time just in case. He is very close to his parents and they are getting eldely, so I was wondering about if they could come here if we do get married. Does your reply pertain for a visit as well as if they wanted to live here? That would be so nice for them and for him and me also. Also I have known my fiance on the internet and phone for 5 years now. Anyway, I thought it doesn't hurt to know the answers to some things ahead of time even if my wondering is kind of premature at this point.

By the way, how long does it take for a someone to become a citizen of the United States? Thanks for all the replies - each one is greatly appreciated. :)

Wrong answer to the wrong question.

People bring themselves to the USA to visit. Doesn't make any difference if the relative they want to visit with is a non-immigrant, an LPR, or a USC. The relative in the USA may pay some or all of the expenses of the visit, but does not "bring" them.

As long as you know what you are doing, a suspicous person may think he is looking for a way to move his family to the US.

I have elderly Parents, and I did look into it. Basically not an option unless you have lots of money, and I mean lots, to pay for health care.

You need to be a Citizen, so say it takes 1 years to get here from now, 1 year to get LPR Status, 2 years and 9 months to apply for Citizenship and say 9 more months to get it and then another year to apply for parents and them to be processed.

So say 6 years or so, maybe more maybe less. Depends

As to whether they could get a Visitors Visa, possible, but usually unlikely in these circumstances, depends on their individual circumstances.

I was addressing the hoping to live here bit, they are from Iraq.

Boiler,

What "hoping to live here bit"? CrystalDream clearly stated that the parents want to visit. Her husband does not need to be a citizen for them to do that.

This bit.

And not her husband, prospective fiancee.

Ok guys, time to clear things up here! Thanks for all the input.

I have not met my guy yet. We have known each other for five years on the internet and phone. We are hoping to get married after we meet. I did not perhaps phrase my original question right cuz my keyboard sticks. I was only asking questions about future POSSIBILITIES as regards to if my fiance is able to come here to live with me. It doesn't hurt to try to know some information ahead of time. He is NOT trying to come here cuz of his parents or anything like that. I was only asking about possibilities for the possible future if his parents would ever be able to visit us or even live here with us. That's all.

Boiler,

My appologies to you. CrystalDream's post contained a double question that you spotted and I missed.

No problem

Not as if I have not done the same myself.
