The roach infested apartment I lived in while in Toronto was gross I wish I could have had a cat.

Partway through the month my ceiling started getting moldy and gross and i called maintenance and found out the guy upstairs HAD A GARDEN IN HIS LIVING ROOM! WITH SOIL ON THE FLOOR! IN HIS LIVING ROOM!!! :o

Sometimes friends would come over just to make fun of how ghetto it was.

It was my first apartment, I was 17 years old, it was cheap and it was in Parkdale.

I only stayed there for 3 months.

Donne moi une poptart!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

I agree el cucaracha are horrible/awful/disgusting/creepy... and are absolutely everywhere here. I found that Raid and the roach motels didn't do very much-especially in my last apartment which was right at ground level and in the basement of our house. If there's a real infestation you should get an exterminator to come in. but after that, I've had the best luck controlling them by limiting their access-here the sewers are completely infested so they'd come up through the sink and shower drains. I just kept them plugged when I wasn't using them. And also sprinkling borax all around every couple of weeks.

haha. Well I haven't seen any this week at all. They are all hiding from me!

This is the one thing that I am not looking forward to at all. I have seen a few roaches in my bf's basement and they FREAK me out more than any other bug. I'm totally okay with centipedes and spiders, but anything that will crunch when killed give me major heebie jeebies.

The last time I was visiting, I woke up at 4 a.m. turned on a bathroom light and a giant roach scurried across the floor and it was seriously the scariest bug I've ever seen. It was huge. Luckily it was only one, which he gets every couple of months he said. Lovely. But that's just New York City for me... nothing I can do to avoid them if I plan to live in the city.

Nope. NYC is probably one of the most infested places. I forgot to ask where your fiancee lives Sapphire. I was just in the city on Saturday and it was gorgeous weather.

Any big city is going to bring a whole slew of gross things.

I have lots of cockroach stories, but I will tell two :hehe:

Both in Singapore. First one, I was a young teen, babysitting for one of my Mom's friends.

So this huge cockroach runs along the floor and I can't find any spray so I decide I will capture it in a glass! I grab a glass and chase it down and SWOOP on it!

Well, I only caught half if it.....and the other half ran away ahhhhhhhhh.

Then another time I was out one night and a huge flying cockroach swooped down and landed on my neck :o

I'm not over exaggerating when I say that I probably would have had a heart attack. I'm only 24 but I know my heart would have stopped haha.

That is SOOO terrible trailmix.

He lives in Woodside, Queens... just along the 7 train line. It's a cute little neighbourhood and very convenient to midtown. I don't know if we'll live there once we get our own place though. I'm hoping we can get a condo in Long Island City, but I also like Forest Hills even if it is a bit further... I'll most likely be working in Midtown, and R works in Brooklyn, so we shall see where we end up!!
