My fiance finally received her K1 visa and will be flying from Manila in early October.

I have read that the ticket must originate in the Philippines but I will pay for it from here, Seattle.

Has anyone done this? Problems? Suggestions?

Don't think it matters one iota who pays for it or from where, just as long as the passenger's name is on the ticket. I paid for 'er indoors to come over here last time out with my U.K. credit card, even though the flight was originating in the states and I wasn't on it.

You would most likely need to purchase the ticket directly from the airlines or a travel agent, as places like Orbitz don't offer tickets where travel originates outside the USA.

As long as the required itinerary has e-ticket, you can make reservation and pay, she just needs the reservation numbers to collect the paper tickets at the airport.

If it's an itinerary that involves an airline that doesn't use e-ticket, you may have problems, as the paper ticket will be sent to your credit card's billing address in US. i.e. we found the cheapest ticket on cheapoair.com but it was an itinerary cannot be issued e-ticket. So at the end we decided to buy from vayama.com, which has e-ticket for a suitable itinerary.

expedia.com, vayama.com and cheapoair.com, are sites that you can book tickets originate from outside of US. In fact, they only accept credit cards from US and a limited numbers of European countries.

I don't know about Philippine, but I found the tickets on these sites are $200-$400 cheaper than the local travel agencies in Malaysia!

I SUGEST NORTHWEST I FLEW MY LOVELY WIFE HERE LAST DEC IT IS THE CHEEPEST AND I BOUGHT IT FOR HER WITH THE TICKET IN HER NAME.I THINK IT WAS AN E TICKET NO PAPPERS.
