Hey.. I just found out that my I-130 was approved this past Friday. I need things to be done as quickly as possible to get my husband here. So anyways.. I was reading : Time Savers for NVC, plus Knowing your Case # and it said

Generally, the only thing you will have to include beyond the DS-230 Part I and the cover sheet is a simple (i.e., not notarized) photocopy of the biographical information page from your spouse's passport. If your spouse is from Canada, a country in Africa, China, and those two or three other countries, more is generally required. (Again, you should find out from a VJ member whose spouse is from the same country as yours exactly what you have to send in with the DS-230 Part I.) Send all of these things to the NVC address listed on the barcoded DS-230 Part I cover sheet.

So...since my spouse is from Canada...I come to you. (I am the petitioner and I am from the US and my spouse is Canadian.) Do you know if there is any additional information we need to send with the applications?

Thanks!

Hi Shiri,

First of all congratulations on the new addition to your family. As for that post, it's 2 years old, and it applies to IR1/CR1 visas - so not really what you are looking for probably.

I don't really know what the documentation requirements are for the K3 so i'll let someone else answer that - congratulations on your I-130 approval as well!

We will be doing the immigration one verses the K3 since my I130 was approved and the I129F is still pending.

Ah ok, I just looked at your Timeline thing which said K3 - but IR1 is better so that's great for you!

I haven't read all of this NVC help guide, but someone from the IR1/CR1 forum wrote it up and put it in the VJ wiki, if nothing else it should give you a good idea of the overall NVC process:

How to bring your foreign spouse to live in the US

This is a good flowchart for the NVC process (however it was written before they started accepting electronic payment for NVC fees - there are many threads about that in the IR1/CR1 forum, including one with a visual of how to make the payments):

NVC Process Flowchart for CR-1/IR-1 Visa Applicants

You will also probably want to have a look at this - this is the URL the national visa center will send to you, to look up the civil documents etc that you are required to send in with your DS-230 - just select Montreal from the drop down list:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3176.html

Basically the civil documents required are:

Birth Certificate

Court and Prison Records

Deportation Documentation

Marriage Certificate

Marriage Termination Documentation

Military Records

Photocopy of Valid Passport Biographic Data Page

Police Certificate(s)

Notification from the NVC

After receiving notification from the NVC to begin Applicant Document Processing, all applicants MUST:

Review the Children who are about to turn 21 years of age instructions IF the applicant or a child of the applicant is about to turn 21 years of age,

Complete the Application For Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Forms DS-230 Part I and Part II .

Obtain and submit the applicant’s civil documents.

Obtain and submit photographs that meet the Department of State's immigration requirements.

Review the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General-specific information.

Mail the DS-230 and the applicant’s civil documents, and the applicant's photographs to the NVC.

What happens next?

(Aside from all of this you will also need to send them a photocopy along with every original document you send - also, if your Husband was not born in Canada, he will need to send a copy of his Canadian citizenship certificate or permanent resident card).

He will also want to try to get all of his vaccination records together.

There isn't really anything out of the norm in terms of 'consulate specific' requirements for Montreal.
