Thank you !

I am asking myself what can I do as a western woman to help that situation with the maternal and infant mortality rate there.

I really don't know.

I am trying to post a link but it may not work. It has an article, photo gallery and video clip. A VJ member had send it to me several months ago but I thought it was too gruesome to post.

But I also want to bring an awareness to the western world of how terrible the conditions are rather than look the other way

or stick my head in the sand hoping that it will go away.

The article is a bit lengthy , the video clip is shorter.

Warning. It is shocking.

:o Oh my .... I just read the link, and viewed the photos. This is so sad. It's not how human beings should be treated, regardless of their economic situation. Other than pray, please let me know how I can help. It may not be much, but in life I've learned that adding lots of little bits together, equals a whole lot.

As for your Fiance, his daughter and the entire family - they will be in my prayers.

Boaz

I'm so sorry to hear you facing more heart-wrenching news. I pray for strength for you to move through this difficult period and keep trusting and being faithful. Please let us know how your step-daughter progresses. I hope she heals completely, both physically and emotionally.

How is Stephen doing with all this?

Thank you everyone for your kind comments, prayers and well wishes.

I wanted to send a box of baby clothes last week and he said no, not until the child is born, we never know what will happen with a birth here.

I never expected it to be this way, I was so thrilled to have another grandbaby, but he knows how dangerous and life threatening a birth can be.

Stephen is grateful that his daughter survived and sad for the loss of his grandchild. But his daughter is young and has her whole life ahead of her. He was very frightened for her life for a week.

After she has grieved she will continue her education.

Culturally this is dealt with so differently and certain things were handled exactly as in the video clip........too painful for me to mention.

We are forever learning how events are handled differently, even life and death itself...........sometimes it gets to me but I have to remind myself that his culture has found a way to best handle suffering and how to proceed in a situation like this.

It all makes more sense if I really step into their shoes for a while. Then the resilience and grace of his culture shines through.

It is what it is and suffering brings with it a certain way to cope in the people of Sierra Leone.

A silent acceptance is then all that is left.

To my little angel baby girl (F)(L) .....you are in such a better place now.
