Good Afternoon!

I hope everyone has a nice, relaxing Sunday!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

What kind voiceover Boaz ?

90% of my work is radio advertisements. In addition, company voice mail greetings. For example: "Thank you for calling XYZ company. For Accounting press 2", etc., etc. Hopefully one of these beautiful days I will make it big and do voice overs for TV commercials. But for now .... I will keep my day job. :D

Where would I begin to see if it is for me ? That has always interested me. I thought that is what you meant but wanted to make sure. :)

As for me I kind of 'stumbled' into the business. While involved in another business venture, I met the owner of a local Gospel radio station. He encouraged me to use my voice for a few of his clients commercials. Eventually, word got around and other stations contacted me for some of their advertisements. Obviously, my voice is not suited for all types of commercials. However, after you get established, companies will start contacting you to provide voice overs for commercials in which they feel your voice is a match. For me this is something that I do on the side. I use to put a lot of time and energy into it, but after my husband arrived it kind of fell on the back burner. BTW - how are you in front of camera's? I've done a few projects for some of the larger churches in my area in which I am on video reading the Sunday morning announcements.

If you are serious about getting started, never look at any project as too small. For me I have yet to do any type of advertisement. It's all word of mouth, and I'm always suprised by the 'big shots', I sometimes run into. You never know how people are connected.

A few websites to consider:

www.voicecoaches.com (they offer online classes)

www.greatvoice.com (This is the website of Susan Berkley. Susan is the "AT&T" voice. She is very popular, and good at what she does)

If I am not mistaking, you speak more than one language. This is indeed a plus. Furthermore, based on your writings, you seem to be one that can convince others. This is a great thing! For the most part, voice overs is really trying to sell your clients product. So I think you will do well.

Take care!

Thanks for the info, I will check it out.

I have a very ' soft ' German accent and would definitely not fit everywhere.

I have a professional ' phone voice ' for clients etc. and at home or talking to close frinds I mostly sound like a drunken sailor  ......especially when I am sleepy or upset. But I know how to differentiate my voice when it counts.

I think I would be ok with a European product or announcement. My convincing others stems from a deep passion within myself

for a product or concept.

Languages, yes German and I could brush up my French.

Camera, not sure, would have to learn. Reading anything no problem.

Thanks I will mull it over.
