hey all, :D

Today started out beautiful; sun shining, cool breezes, leaves falling, could not ask for more.

Then I had an appt with the lawyer (divorce). This man was as old as time and slower than cold molasses.

I swear, he should have been convelescing. It took him an hour and a half just to go over 6 sheets of paper, (mind you, most of it was "dna" or "none").

I kept asking him, "you want me to fill those in for ya?" and he kept saying "no, you just have to sign at a later date."

I'm like "geesh, can you move much slower, I really do want to sit here in dead silence with ya buddie!"

So when he finishes, he tells me, "welp, young lady, I look forward to meeting with you later."

I wanted to bite my toe nails off!" I was so ready to leave. But on a lighter note, I'm getting it done...finally.

Then, I had to contend with my grandmothers banking issues; she died two months ago today. Her health insurance company is still taking out the monthly premiums from her account and now its in the negative. When I tried to talk to them, they told me and I quote "ma'am, I need your grandmothers consent before I can discuss this account with you, is she available?" I'm like "umm, did you not understand me when I said she is deceased?" the rep then stated, "I heard you, but she still needs to give consent."

####### :o

Uno,

I don't know if I should laugh, or also say "#######"? As I've shared with VJ a couple of months ago, my sister (technically she's an Aunt, but we were raised together) passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly. She has an estranged husband, and no children. In the midst of trying to settle her affairs I too have been pushed to the limit by bankers and insurance reps asking / saying some of the most ignorant statements! Especially after I've identified myself, and the purpose of my call/visit. I had to ask the lady at the bank - are you listening to me?!?!? Am I speaking in a language other than English?!?!? I've even shown these idiots her Death Certificate and they still ask these stupid questions. Then to top it all off - her husband somehow has her cell phone, and sends text messages to people from her phone! How insensitive!! OK .... I normally burn Chispas ears, but I guess I will give her a break, and vent here instead.

ALL things work TOGETHER for GOOD!

I feel ya, went through the same thing after my Mom's move to a nursing home in Germany.

They would not stop taking money out of her account without her consent for the cable bill (she has dementia ).

I told them I am including a doctors letter and expect a refund.

That worked !

Fax them the death certificate and ask for a refund and you should get it.

Yep, time flies Bassie's Z :D

Just stopping in to say hello. Just want to get this election over with. I feel so exhausted from this election. As if I was the one running for President. I guess I just need to find a way to stop watching CNN and MSNBC. I have become a political junky, and I wish I had been this interested years ago. I would have truly enjoyed studying Political Science. Oh, well....

Uno, I am sorry you had to endure that long lawyer appointment. I pray that you are able to resolve everything in an efficient manner.

Bassi's Z, time sure is flying. It seems as if both you and Zee were fying back and forth to Ghana to 'bring your men home' and now, all these months have passed already.

Omoba, how's the windows coming along. You will soon have a brand new, redecorated home. That's my plan for this coming year. I am converting my attic into a second level. Gonna call it a "penthouse suite." I can't wait to get it started. Gotta come up with lots more money first, however. :(

I hope everyone is doing wonderfully.

In just a few hours, we will have a new President Elect. Either way it turns out, we about to be a part of HISTORY being made: Either our first African American President :) OR our first Female Vice President

God Help Us!

God Bless America!

P.S. I went to see Mr. Obama last night, and he is SO VERY HANDSOME in person. Oh MY

Peace

Hey ya'll!

Congrats Boaz!

Expedited EAD? Let me know how that turns out Naggie. Although, by the time I request an expedite, they will probably be ready to send the thing anyway. It's been three months now. Poor Bassi. He's in school, but annoyed that he can't make his own choices. Can you believe I've been married for three months!!??!! Woweee!! Time flies!

Thanks! What is your husband studying? I hope his EAD comes soon. My husband works during the day, and takes classes at night. He is pursuing a degree in Nursing. So ... needless to say, we don't get to spend a lot of extra time together. But we know it will all pay off in the long run. :luv:

Bassi is studying english. Don't say ANYTHING Zee! I know my husband speaks english, but he's very very insecure about his english. I decided it's better to support him in this than not. He doesn't really speak to my friends much cause he thinks they will mock his english. They wouldn't be friends if they would do that, but you know when someone is feeling insecure and out of control of their life, they are not always logical. I feel like once he starts working, his confidence will grow in leaps and bounds. I heard him telling his friend that he's a housewife now. He never says anything to me, but I sense it. I know he's dealing with stuff. I'm trying to be very supportive of him. I think he's getting to feeling more comfortable. It's slow going though. The classes do help him with little things like pants instead of trousers. Then I feel worse cause I'm from Guyana and unknowingly speak a bit of patua english from my country at home or when someone cuts me off in the car. It throws him off more, so I'm trying to be more aware when I do it. I have to pretend I'm at work all the time now so that I speak properly until he's comfortable. Bassi and I are in transition and doing amazingly well considering.

I want to redo my office. I've packed one box of books. Yes, ONE box of books. Progress not perfection! It's overwhelming. I have an old house and so I was always focused on structural issues, windows, furnace, floors, etc. Now, I'm moving on to decorating and it's HORRIBLE. I need Vern (that cute little asian designer) to come redo my whole house. I can't make a decision. Bassi's only input is "no red". What's up with that? Thanks for the assistance. But I won't complain, cause he does all the work. Our bedroom is finally done. I was able to empty out his closet (I had two walk in closets filled with clothes! ) And I found a great deal on unfinished chests, which Bassi finished in a pretty pecan maple. I'm happy with the bedroom. Now, I want to work on the office. I have 6 paint colors that all seem to look like peach. I also want Bassi to build a wrap around desk so that I have a lot of work space for crafts with Kay or doing homework along with computer space. And obviously tons of shelving, cause I've got books piled everywhere and they are all like gold to me, so don't suggest purging! But I need help! More help than "no red". I guess we'll make it the winter project to finish the office.

I say nothing :innocent:

I know what you are saying about the English though. I can understand why he would be self-conscious about that. He just wants to make sure he gets it right. Sometimes Inusah says something and I correct him. I tell him "that may be what it is in Ghana, but we are in the US now".

Its just funny to see how his language is changing from being around his work peeps all day :)

Bassi's Z, that was the cutest story about Bassi saying he is a "housewife." That is so sweet, because I can relate to that too, with some of the things Taiwo says at times.

Are there any men on earth more precious than our African Kings? Although Taiwo has lived in the UK for a few years, he's still new to a lot of things. I love experiencing things through his eyes. I have learned so much about my own "world" by viewing through his perspective things that I have either taken for granted or experiences that are just 'second nature' being American and living as such. I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world. :)

Good for him! I wish my husband would take an English class, but her refuses. He accent is thick. Honestly, I am not sure if the issue is his accent, or his sexy Barry White voice. For the most part I can understand him clearly. But sometimes I'm like ... huh?!?!?

LOL! I can attest to the same thing with my husband. I am noticing some of the slang he uses. For example, he know longer says 'hello' or 'greetings', but instead he say's "hey". Although we live in the south, personally I don't like "hey". But oh well, I am thankful he is adjusting well.

Stevi, that's what I always think. I think this must be hard for Bassi. He's travelled alot, but mostly around Africa. This is a HUGE change for him. Plus a wife and child which is overwhelming on its own. And he still spends so much time thinking about my needs. Rubbing my back or bring me home my favorite chocolate. It's a true committment to love and marraige even when others may turn inwards and be very self-focused because of their circumstances. He is a joy. I've exhaled girl!

Bassi has started calling me "babe". "Hey babe" when he answers the phone. I think he learns from his friends. He's made a few friends here. I think men make friends more easily or something. But he's selective so he's got two new good friends and then a few acquaintances and footballers that he hangs with. They are all immigrants, but not all african.

I really think once he starts working it'll be a huge help for him and his adjustment. His confidence will increase, he'll feel more in control and I don't want to think about the language differences he'll bring home. It should be interesting.

I can understand him all the time. Sometimes, he uses the king's english, which throws me for a loop. But my grandmother speaks the king's english, so it's not completely foreign to me. It just takes an adjustment for me to the vocabulary he chooses sometimes. I really think it's mostly about his confidence level at this point. It's hard to see him feel so insecure. He doesn't even like ordering in restaurants.
