In case you didn't read my follow up post I corrected myself and stated they were spy planes, I wasn't feeling well when I first wrote the post and even stated I couldn't remember.

Here's a question - had I not named them would you have known their names and known where they are housed on the West Coast?

hey whidbey (sp) if you are asking that question to "sir" charles!,

they're is hardly anything he does not know  , or any question he does not here

Hey Subbies

Sad news at my office today....at least 3 departments are being eliminated....including the one I transfered out of this past Feb. My job is safe, but it is unnerving to know that had I not make the decision to apply for the other position, I would be in the same situation as many of my co-workers. So sad my very good friend is in that dept....she and her fiance just bought a house and are still working on paying on the wedding that is to be in May. This economy is rediculous. I am in shock...this could have been me. I knew something was cooking....I have been suspicious for weeks...I actually thought that it was going to be worse.

How sad.

It's happening everywhere. I too had a sense of my hours being cut and Monday my suspisions were confirmed as I was cut to just 2 days a week :( I am testing for a corrections officer tomorrow so hopefully I will have a better job soon because I can't support SO and 3 kids on less than $1,000 a month.

good nite all.

sorry about the downsizing "P" good thing you are intuned to your gut feelings.

UNO (F)

An interesting fact

Manure: In the 16th and 17th centuries, everything had to be

transported by ship and it was also before commercial fertilizer's

invention, so large shipments of manure were common.

It was shipped dry, because in dry form it weighed a lot less than

when wet, but once water (at sea) hit it, it not only became heavier, but

the process of fermentation began again, of which a by product is methane

gas. As the stuff was stored below decks in bundles you can see what could

(and did) happen.

Methane began to build up below decks and the first time someone came

below at night with a lantern, BOOOOM!

Several ships were destroyed in this manner before it was determined

just what was happening

After that, the bundles of manure were always stamped with the term

'Ship High In Transit' on them, which meant for the sailors to stow it high

enough off the lower decks so that any water that came into the hold would

not touch this volatile cargo and start the production of methane.

Thus evolved the term ' S.H.I.T ', (Ship High In Transport) which has

come down through the centuries and is in use to this very day. :wow:

You probably did not know the true history of this word

knowledge is power :star:

Interesting

Congrats on your hearts Uno and P. It will take me another year to get that far. Thank you LovinLiberia. That OT thread is really somethin'. I spent some time there reading, and some of the folks are quite raw and mean, but such is life in the real world. At this ripe ole age of mine, I think I've seen and heard it all. As my grandmother would say "God love um." :)

Interview date is next week gurl! Are you getting jittery yet? Maybe by the weekend you'll be thinking about it all the time.

Hi Bassi's Z:

Yes, I am quite nervous, but I am trying not to worry  . Thank you for asking.

You're getting closer and closer. It's great to get to the interview though. I hope things go well. You might be nutty by this weekend, so make plans and keep yourself busy.

I'm gettin' nervous mostly because the London Embassy is starting to turn people away because of question #11 on the I-134. We followed the way the guides tell us by not checking a box and writing the the "N/A petition for K1 visa" and London is telling some people that they should check "yes" stating that I will be supporting him, and how.

I was going to send him another I-134 to pull out in the event they tell him that he will need the box checked (or shall I say "tick the box" as the British say). But we both decided to leave it in Gods hands and just wait to see what will happen. This has got to be the most nerve-wrecking process I've ever encountered. I sometimes wish we were going through Lagos :(

Wishing everyone job security and a decent income to support this journey.

My boss had a meeting today to tell us we were all safe and that we didn't have to worrying about layoffs. BUT, no new staff and we've already lost through general attrition about half the office, so we're all doing more with less, but at least we're employeed.

I am self employed and have a therapeutic massage practice and when my clients lose their jobs or have pay cuts they can't come to me.

It then becomes a luxury versus a health maintenance to them.

So it really has a trickle down effect even for the self employed. I have a 4 day weekend this week but not by choice :(

I hope the upturn comes sooner rather than later.

For the time being, I'm safe because I am a Mental Health Professional. I'm also self-employed, but it's unbelievable how much competition is out there even in my profession. Although on a lighter note, I may need my own services after this visa process is over :( I was a victim of AT&T's big layoff some years ago, and it was so devastating to us all..... which led me to start working for myself. Even with that said, I still incur the high cost of having no group medical and health insurance coverage. That is the main thing I miss. Having to pay the high cost of all of the 'perks' I use to enjoy is no fun at all. I pray for everyone who is going through any form of downsizing.

I completely understand! People aren't buying the tools I sell either, even though learning to do your own home repair and maintenance saves a whole lot of money. I had a tool show in August that I do every year, it was not nearly as profitable as previous years and the other thing I noticed, virtually NO credit card payments, it was cash or nothing. I mean that's good that people are learning to live within their means but it's going to take awhile before the whole adjustment period evens out. KWIM?
