You better hope for an early November interview. Do you know what the lead time currently being experienced in Warsaw? In some consulates you might be Ok, in others you will be screwed for a November interview and visa delivery.

I know we're bad, but we bought our tickets BEFORE the interview - about 6 weeks before. We felt pretty confident going into this, especially with what we'd heard about the consulate in Brazil. AND I figured that worst comes to worst, we could pay to change the tickets - couldn't be more than if we bought tickets Miami - Rio - Miami during Carnival.

It is not advisable for you to get your tickets before your interview, they even advise you at the embassy to make sure you receive the visa first before you get your tickets. A small suggestion though(I have been working for a travel agency for 3 yrs now), if you do book your tickets early just make sure it's refundable or exchangeable so you won't lose the value of your ticket/money.

I think anyone that don't work for a travel agency knows they can buy a flexible ticket and change dates without being charged or losing the value of their ticket... I would get your visa first before making any plans too close ahead mate. The best of luck!! :D

It's funny you said that, because almost all calls I got from customers wanting to change their flight dates don't even know about their tickets being refundable or changeable or the exact opposite. A lot of people just book tickets online and don't even read the restrictions. I know you know what I mean.

 I am always the one to read the restrictions on anything!! I can see what you mean absolutely.. people do not want the responsibility to fully understand what they can and can't do with their tickets..until they call the agent and start panicing obviously

I am surprised ppl don't check...I mean it's what they pay their hard earned money on!!!

When I buy tickets on-line, one of the first questions I ask myself is, are you sure you're not going to have to back out of this? I don't want to lose a cent either.
