Hi

Has anyone been approached by International Auto Source? Apparently a moving company I was getting quotes from passed on my name to them. Its a company that sells cars to Foreign National and Diplomatic communities. They say they can get good deals for new cars because you cut out the dealers and buy straight from the makers. You have to start the ball rolling in this country pay a deposit etc. Had some guy call me and try and sell me the idea.

Has anyone done this? Are the deals good? The web site is

http://www.intlauto.com/wps/portal/intlauto

Any advice would be helpful

Many Thanks

Just make certian the car You buy meets all of the saftey and emissions specs for the US or You will pay thousands of dollars bringing it up to code before it will clear customs.

Why buy a car in UK and then have to ship it? Also might be a ggrey market car not up tp USA astandards and as post above said could cost you months and thousands to fix it so you could bring it in. If you can not find a deal in US for a car then you have serious problems

Hi

Maybe I haven't explained it fully, the car would be bought in the USA straight from the makers the process of buying it has to be started in the UK to qualify for the deal to miss out the "middle man".

Dealers are desperate to sell cars here. An upfront fee to buy a car?

I don't think so!

Actually they are not cowboys, I have seen many posts from people who have used them. If memory serves me right they are an offshoot of an organisation originally set up for US Military returning to the US.

No harm in checking them out.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I would really check out this company before purchasing a car from them or anyone right now. The reason I said this is because as many you may remember 9 months ago a hurrican hit the south. The est of car under water, for 2 week and some were 2 months under water, were over 10,000. About 2 weeks ago a gentleman was arrested here in Mobile, Alabama for selling car to people and not disclosing to them that the car were from the hurrican hit area and could have possible been under water for a lenght of time. According to the peoples he purhcase cars from claim he was buying the cars to ship to Mexico and they would be sold there. The guy was telling customer who has purchase the cars from him he was a auto broker from Mexico and was selling this cars at lost for a family friend who owned a car dealership in Mexico who need money to pay off his back taxes. Before purchasing a car please ask, some dealers will ge glad to tell you, who own the car. Just be careful.

And to add to that, any time you are buying a USD vehicle in the USA, be sure to get a CARFAX report on it, and whoever the seller is should have no problem supplying you with a VIN number (a one-of-a-kind serial number given to every single car) this is how they track the car's history.

If a car has been in a wreck, flood, tornado, whatever, the title search will come back as either 'Salvage' or "Rebuilt". Those types of cars you probably wouldn't want to deal with.

Remember, if they won't give you a VIN, walk away.
