They weren't - but you were saying that the US was more loved in the world back then.

I just think that the world would hae been behind us then if Russia was forced back to their own territory. We wouldn't be looked at as the aggressor, we would be seen as liberators.

Well as we've discovered with 9/11 - that sort of moral capital runs out pretty quickly. And there's no knowing what form US foreign policy would have taken in the intervening years.

She's not running for President. McCain is. Obama is. What are Obama's qualifications?

I'd lke to think that it would have been as it was, only on a larger scale. But that was then and this is now.

Let's be fair. She said if Georgia was a member of NATO and Russia invaded Georgia, then perhaps we'd have to go to war with Russia.

That is, after all, what the treaty requires.

If we don't want to go to war with Russia, perhaps we should not let Georgia into NATO.

perhaps sarah palin should be more educated in government.....think she makes a better soccer mom than a vice presidential candidate.....

what could McCain possibly have been thinking when he picked her....oh, i get it ...he wasnt thinking.....maybe too much medication....

And Obama isn't qualified to be President, only problem is he doesn't know it.

Damn right he is.

McCain will ruin this country worse than Bush already has.

what do you base that on?

Palin is the governor of Alaska, so I guess that would be local experience versus national since she has never served in Washington like the rest of the ticket.

wordly in foreign affairs.....and really shined when she danced on the idea of war with russia...maybe she should look at a map and see there

is more to russia than what she can see from alaska.....

Why don't you go read the question she was asked. And your answer of looking at a map shows that you don't even know why she was being crtitcized. If Obama said the moon was made out of green cheese, you would blindly accept it as fact.

Right but for some, it's "treaty schmeaty". Maybe if we don't want to live up to our treaty agreements, we should just withdraw from NATO. Does the treaty allow us to do that?

For Palin to close the option of war with Russia in support of a NATO ally, she'd have to advocate violating our own treaties. It was an intentional Catch 22 question. Her answer was a winner with one group and a loser with another. Choose your group.
