Just wondering with the dwindling economy

how much money does $1 USD get in your spouse's country?

today it was 7.68 Dirham for $1 USD...that is up considerably since a month ago when I sent Western Union

today I sent Western Union and I was pleasantly surprised that the dollar was up

For India its not bad, lol. At this moment about 45.5. Last year it went down to 38 from the highs before 2001 of 50. But since as a kid in early 90s I have seen it going from 17 and up.

1 USD = 9.94 Ethiopian Birr. Its a higher rate than last year (around 8) but the cost of food and transport have increased significantly in Ethiopia.

000, I'm shocked at the rate in Brazil. I was there a few years ago and I think the rate was near 3 at the time.

sending money through western union or through money grams etc aint cheap, ive got around that by sending my fiance a bank card for a spare savings account i have, depending on which bank you are with, some dont charge for international withdrawals and if they do it works out cheaper than the fees western union would charge.. you just have to make sure your bank know that your partner is using your card abroad

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Come on. Take it easy. Give us a break please. Technically you are correct in that there is another forum on VJ for this kind of discussion but I think we all get sort of tunnel vision with the one forum we are reading constantly (be that the K1, K3, or CR1-IR1 etc) and don’t think much or visit the remaining forums.

If people sometimes post off-topic comments or threads here I think it's because we need a little light hearted reading in the midst of all the stress and frustration we are experiencing. Sometimes you just get sick and tired of threads about problems and people getting approved in 21 days or people not getting approved for two years and just need a little break with something else and this forum specifically becomes our support community for anything we want to say.

Good luck with your endeavors and please fill your timeline so we can all benefit by comparing your dates to ours.
