Everyone is entitled to remember 9/11 as they wish. Others may not like they way they have chosen to remember but that is their right. 9/11 is and always will be a very political hot potato, and people of every corner of the globe will have different feelings on the subject. Some will think it was Americas wake-up call, other will think it was a long time coming, some will be deeply saddened, some will be forever scarred and some have never heard of the tragedy. The most important thing to remember is the loss of life, both the victims and the terrorists and do all we can to try to ensure it does not happen again.

"Every Pair of Human Eyes See's a Different Light, But Always Keep Them Open, For to Close Them Darkness would Prevail".

Thank you - that was my intention. PH, I'm sorry you felt it was insensitive. My apologies to Olivia - I saw the title of the thread and posted it before reading through any of the posts here. I should have at least read the OP to see that this wasn't just a thread about 911, but a personal one. Please forgive me. (F)

I would never have commented in some thread calling out people trying to remember 9/11 & NOT politics for once.

Would've been better to make them invisible. Twisted. Oh well, VJ is what it is.

And Steven, I lived through it in NYC too as well as volunteered for the Red Cross but I don't expect you to apologize to me.

Sorry, just trying to do what I thought best. I guess that's twisted.

I agree, as Steven has admitted, that the post was inappropriate in that thread.

While we're criticizing things related to 9/11, I'm not terribly fond to the post 9-11 patriotism that sprung up from nowhere, nor the feigning sensitivity and attacking people who bring up politics into 9/11 discussions (everyone has their own beliefs, as ridiculous as they may be) when it occurred 7 freaking years ago (just before my birthday), and while I was ultimately extremely pissed and "nuke this, nuke that" in 2001, thankfully I was more quickly able to give my head a shake and ask important questions. Sadly, many others weren't able to do the same.

Dev, I posted what I thought was my way of remembering the morning of 911. Let's not turn that into an argument. Just leave it be. Thank you. (F)

I still think Steven is a nice guy. If he wanted to be mean he could have said who cares what anyone thinks. But he apologized.

Hard to believe it was 7 years ago, though probably because the images are forever etched in the brain.

Difficult to make sense of even today - how something like this could have been plotted and carried out with such devastating success.

Asking the why's I think are important in getting down to the bottom of things.

Lots of decisions are being made locally due to the ideals regarding the latter part of your post. It's best for critical views of them to ensure they are the right decisions, not the most swift and reactionary, like the PATRIOT Act #######.

Did you watch the buildings fall out your window? Did you smell smoke for months? Did you see emotionally battered firefighters & detectives? Did you live in a city of fear? Did you watch your neighborhood on lockdown?

I didn't think so.

I mourn not only the victims but the loss of so many of our fundamental rights. The patriot act and its ancillaries are an abomination and abrogation of our constitution like no other. That of course is not to mention the trillion dollars spent and thousands of lives sacrificed on a useless war in iraq. If osama bin laden's goal was to debase american society, he has accomplished his mission.

Trivializing others because they saw it on TV and not in person (I've seen death too, but I don't tell anyone else theirs is of any less value as it's stupid) really only makes your posts just as more feigning sensitivity as an attempt to attack people who dissent to your views. Learn to live and let live and get the #### over it. Unlike Steven I won't apologize to you because not everyone needs to celebrate 9/11 like you.
