Let's talk about bad experience - Last week, Hubby's co-worker, a petite girl, was mugged by 3 WOMEN!!! They kicked and punched her and took her money away.

Well, last night I have my own bad experience. Hubby and stopped by to pick up a friend in her house on our way to the prayer meeting in church. He left the car running as we were in a hurry and we expect to be back in the car in less than 2 minutes. We knocked on our friend's house while keeping an eye on our car, group of rowdy guys (friends of friends of friends of Chelsea) got out of the door and said Chelsea will be out in a second. I got inside the door to shout to Chelsea to hurry, we then return to the car and one of the rowdy guys got of the car and hubby shouted HEY HEY HEY! And he jumped out of the car. I looked inside the car and my brown Marikina purse is missing!!!!! I shout to the rowdy group of men "Hey give me back my purse!" And hubby asked me if i am positive that i left my purse in the car. I felt so stupid, i don't leave my purse in the car but i don't know why left it that time. At first i was not sure if i brought my purse with me and then i realized that i just checked our mailbox and i put the keys in the purse and the mails were still in my hand! One of the guys said they saw a girl passed by the car, etc, etc, but my mind went blank and I began to tremble. Either one of the guys got it or if the girl story is true or not, Only God knows who took my purse. I cried in the car and hubby was so sorry for being too trusting leaving his engine car on even for a few seconds. Chelsea said that her neighborhood is really bad that she dont even check her mailbox alone. and she has to run back to the house each time she take out her garbage!!!

My only consolation is there's no passport, credit card or anything super valuable inside the purse except the purse itself and some of my girl stuff and KEYS! I was imagining things like what if they know where we live and they got the key to our house and even the mail and my library card too!

I was scared and angry and nervous but at the same time thankful that our car was still there, no body got hurt and my important papers were not stolen. This experience stand as a reminder to NEVER,EVER LEAVE ANY PURSE in the car as it is a perfect bait for the thieves - and always LOCK THE CAR!

When you lock your doors be sure you have your key also. I would like to share my experience yesterday. I went to our truck just in the yard with all my keys ( house , car and truck) when I got out from the truck i forgot the the keys for the house was left in truck so I was locked out of the house for 4 hrs I have to wait for my hubby to come home :bonk::o . Good thing I have the key of the car in the other pocket so I i stayed in the car . I was so silly to do that if only I have my eyeglass I could have gone to the library since my DL is with me. But anyway, it was a lesson to learn as well. Check everything before locking. :P

I am glad you were not hurt.

NEVER ever leave your car running and the doors unlocked.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

We learned our lesson now..always always lock the door and never ever leave the purse in the car. I have seen a lot of pictures of missing children in walmart..and i was wondering why on earth will people kidnap kids??? Bad people are really everywhere, whether in Philippines or here in USA My mom said she cant believe there are thieves in USA - I told her people here are not all angels.

Hello te riza, You locked yourself out? Be sure to lock the door and bring the key with you :)

Yes Jomo's Girl, we will never, ever leave our car running again..never. I am thinking of going into martial arts, just in case i met someone who would try to grab my purse away from me :)

I'm glad you are ok. I would maybe recommend checking through all your credit cards, ID's etc just to make sure there wasn't anything accidently left in your purse. Might not be a bad idea to get a credit alert attached to your credit reports. A guy I work with got his credit card stolen last week and it has been a nightmare for him trying to clear his name.

Thank you for that reminder. Thankfully i dont have any credit card, my passport and SS Card are kept away safely. Can they steal my identity through my library ID? i hope not. It's all in God's hands now. I have prayed about it. Stolen identity is really a nightmare. I hope your friend clears his name fine.

I know that feeling of panic when something like this happens. Years ago I was attacked and mugged and he didn't harm me but got away (but not without a fight!) We were playing tug of war with my purse and as a result certain things like my keys and cell phone fell out so I was able to make it home. He basically got my purse with my wallet and some cash and ID.

Seems like it was just a bunch of kids looking for money in your case... most important thing is that you and your hubby are safe and sound.

Our teeny timeline:

Mar '08 ~ 1st visit to Vancouver

May '08 ~ 2nd visit to Vancouver

Jun 08 ~ plans to move to the west coast!

Aug 8 08 ~ he moves to Bellingham

current ~ many trips back and forth across the border...

You are brave to do tug of war with your assailant! Really I dont know what to react if something like that will happen to me. I am still hoping to see my pretty big purse in a trash bin somewhere :)

Thank you KCMP. I'll try to stay safe :) Sometimes we get too comfortable that we forgot that not all people around us are honest and good and kind. Some of them are just watching our every move and would come and get us when we least expect it.

I'm glad everyone is okay. If you haven't already, let the library know their card was stolen so they can block it. Some libraries lend DVDs and music CDs -- might mean a few quick bucks for the thief.

I doubt much can be obtained from a library card other than what you have read lately ;)

I once had someone try to very poorly steal my purse. I was at a very busy intersection, and I had just crossed the street when I got a phone call on my cell. So I stopped for a moment and leaned on a light pole (my purse hanging from the shoulder leaning on the light pole). Well, some guy walks by...reaches out and gently tugs my purse. At first I didn't really realize what happened...so I said to him #######??? He then takes off like a bat out of hell.

I imagine he doesn't tend to get away with much if he approaches all his purse snatchings that way!
