I suppose here, I am not surprised by the dirt-digging so much as how partisan the media is. My husband hates Fox news but it is interesting to watch the blatant liberal-bashing. Same with MSNBC - we are an Obama household, even our dog is an Obama supporter . Anyway, my husband watches Keith Olbermann religiously and we especially like his end messages, however, I keep pointing out to him that it's pointless because the only people watching Countdown are the ones who don't really need converting.

I think I'm the only left-leaning person that wishes Olbermann would STFU. He looks like a scolding harridian who walked off some 50s educational film about the dangers of reefer madness or something

Haha, he does. In fact, he looks like my Dad when he was younger - so I get where you're coming from with the 50's thing. He is very scolding and a wee bit self-righteous, but his message is often really pertinent - but I still think he's only ever preaching to the converted. I liked Paxman and before him, Robin Day, so I guess I must have a secret passion for men of that ilk.

I have to say I was shocked how much bashing and dearty ads there is here. I was so disapointed with the media. It's not supprising people don't now what's going on outside of the states. I met people that didn't now there are other countries fighting in Afganistan except US. I always watch BBC World news, reminds me of European news, you get the information and form your own opinion. I don't like Republicans because of the way they do campaing and they supposed to be christians. I'm a catholic and I don't think Good would agree with the way they are trying to win. I think McCain is ok but I doubt he would ever stand up against his party. They need to loose this elections to change. I like Obama but I don't like ultraliberals. I can't stand Nancy Pelosi. I agree with Obamas policies about economy, education and health care and that is what should count. I respect him and the way he's runing his camaign. I don't like McCains standpoint on education where everybody should be able to choose the school. It would cause big problems in a sense that again rich people are going to be able to get into the good schools, and bad schools wouldn't improve. If McCain will run this country the way he runs his campaign Good help us. Just my 2 cents.

After the past 2 weeks of being a political junkie I decided to watch ####### - so I watched Hole in the Wall (yes - a bunch of people jumping through shapes is prefererable to politics) and Kitchen Nightmares.

Politics in the U.S. are a self-perpetuating cycle of fail. People essentially expect our government to control pretty much every aspect of their lives and they forget that the one most qualified to do that is themselves. They also don't expect more from their candidates; they don't demand a proportional amount of "perfection" from candidates who expect such from U.S. citizens. For instance, if a candidate wants to keep gay marriage banned because it violates "the sanctity of marriage", then I believe it's completely fair game to drag their marital past out into the open for dissection. It's only fair they should have to act with the same moral character as they expect from their constituents.

Essentially, the office of the president and those in Congress are no longer doing what they exist to do - protect American freedoms. Instead, they're in the business of restricting it, piece by piece. Whether it's Democrats eroding the rights of corporations, businesses and consumers, or Republicans eroding the personal freedoms of women or homosexuals - their problem is that they don't see the difference between what they personally disagree with and what should be legal/Constitutional policy.

Politics in America are an absolute farce, really.

DEMOCRACY in America is an absolute farce. I find it ironic that we wish to impose democracy on other countries when we've never really had it ourselves. We live in a Plutocracy where the wealthy are only concerned with maintaining their positions. We live in a society where the government seeks to chip away our freedoms in the name of safety. Neither candidate will address this. Both candidates will continue to expand government into our lives. They will continue to regulate and limit our rights for our safety and the people will love them for it.

50 years from now we will probably wake up to mandatory sterilization vaccinations at the age of 12. We'll have to get a permit from the government to become temporarily fertile after they have approved us for parenthood.

It seems to be! You do hear about the people who don't "know" they are preggers until they go into labor.
