Weird - that scratches out my stereotypical conception of a "Survivalist". I thought those kinds of people usually holed up in sparsely populated rural areas...

Jersey City is pretty densely populated...

forest ... trees ...

crowds ... people ....

easy to get lost in either place

were the guns he owned legal to buy for the general public?

I would say yes. Sounds like he bought them from regular gun stores.

for gun ignorant people..... just about any rifle will shoot through a cops bullet proof vest. those vests are mainly for handgun ammo. The article has a serious anti-gun slant to it.

Funny, do you really think that anyone will agree that you need all that guns and ten thousand rounds to go huntin' in Jersey City?

It's not a Wasilla.

Obviously the guy has some mental issues. Or criminal ones.

Guns are for more than hunting.

Like crime.

Spoken like a true New Yorker.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

Its a bit weird for an end of the world survival nut to hole himself up in densely populated part of Jersey that's got a pretty high crime rate. If civilization collapes he's got to shoot his way out of there to get to safety...

Perhaps he was saving up for that mountain retreat.

i was just asking because I know some assault rifles are only for military use.. I know some people feel the purchase of guns is necessary for protection, or just for the right of owning a gun.. but getting illegal guns -if that's the case- it's going too far IMO

pedroh, food for thought. your average 30-06 with a 3x9 scope can outshoot (in terms of accuracy) just about any assault rifle at ranges of 300+ yards.

kick that up to say a 25-06, or a .220 swift, either one say a 4x16 scope or better, and you can go 600-900 yards or more.

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

the old M1 can do quite well ... if you know what you're about. So can the 130 year old designed black powder cartridges (who needs scopes at 900 yds)

charles ... Quigley is not a myth ... been there etc. etc .........

Is comparing gun size a way of affirming your masculinity? Who does have the biggest one? What does having more than one say about you?

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Does the number of shoes a woman owns affirm her femininity? Who does have the most colors and styles? What does having more than 4 pairs say about a you?

Typical comment from a female. It's not the size that matters. It's not how many you have that matters. Its how many people you can kill before they kill you that matters! The more evil tyrants (and agents of evil tyrants) you can kill, the more masculine you are. Edited by akdiver

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

A typical .223 assault rifle is meant for ranges less than 200 yds. Which is typical for combat, which is why .223 rifles were created (to make rifles lighter, and ammo lighter)
