Nightmarish thought.

As I was copying all my boarding passes and receipts and such last night, I had a terrible thought: What if all the originals burn up in a house fire, or get stolen or lost? What if I submit the I-129f with all these copies, but the originals are lost forever? Has this ever happened in the history of VJ? Would the consulate understand? I, myself, have already lost 2 receipts and 1 boarding pass that I know I had before. I never regretted falling in love with a foreigner before but at times, this almost seems like too much risk, work, and worry. Can I go back in time and not join Cherry Blossom? No, I don't mean that, I love her but ..... :bonk:

That could be bad, though there are ways to get other evidence. I believe you can get passenger info direct from the airline and if you paid by credit card you can usually get past statements electronically.

If you want peace of mind, you could always buy a fireproof container. I have one at home. I've no idea how effective it really is, but it's pretty darn thick and heavy. It's supposed to withstand some rated temperature for some time. I can't remember the specific details, but it seemed to be sufficient for a casual fire. There are a variety of them out there.

I put our birth certificates, passports, our I-129F paperwork, etc. in there. It also locks. It also weighs about 50 pounds so a thief would have a hard time getting away with it. And hopefully he/she would realize that the documents in there are original paperwork which would be useless to them and not valuables.

I am with you there, and it is the path we have started to walk. I keep thinking that at least it is not like back in the day when all you could do is "snail mail" with never chatting or web cam. If it were like that still I would never do this. So at least I can talk to Xuan each night or chat with web cam. That makes the process much less painful I think.
