I have seen that some of you reccomended getting a letter from your hometown state represetative to help the visa get approved. What exactly should the state rep write about in the letter? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Your State Representative can do nothing... However, your US Congress person or US Senator might. Most if not all have immigration liasons.

YMMV

Your US Senator or Congressman/woman can help if there are issues such as petition not approved within stated processing timeframe, file not getting to the NVC in a timely manner or getting hung up in the NVC. But, I don't think any of your elected representatives will or can write a letter to "help the visa get approved".

Right, use them to help solve problems if they come up. Otherwise, they really can't do anything for you.

Agreed, and unapprovable petition or visa is still an unapprovable petition or visa, regardless of any representatives intervention.

YMMV
