Receipt and Online Status

We received the first NOA for the I-751 yesterday. The notice date is 09/02/2008. I tried to get a status and it said it was an invalid receipt number. I got logged onto my account and tried to add it and it kept telling me the same thing - invalid receipt number.

How long does it take before you can add it to your profile or check the status online?

There is a regional office here, should I make an Infopass appt to discuss this?

I have tried capital WAC and just wac. No dashes, just WAC08########, where # is the rest of the numbers on my receipt.

Thanx so much for the help.

This is one of the most common questions asked about the I-751. First, you are ok - the number on the NOA never works - it isn't supposed to as it is just an internal number used by USCIS. You won't be able to check your status on line until you receive your ASC Biometrics appointment letter. It will have a different case number on top and that is the number you can use to check your online status. There is no need for an infopass, you just have to be patient until you receive the next letter. It usually comes within the month.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Thank you, I did finally find that information in another thread. Just bugged me.

I find all this stressful. That is one reason I could never use a lawyer; I just cannot imagine putting our life in the hands of another.

 I checked mine after my bio appointment using the ASC applicant # and not the NOA1.
