<cough> McCain does have executive experience. He was the commander of his squadron. I would say that is more than a "community organizer".

I would say this is clearly coming from an unbiased and neutral POV.

So is yours it seems.

Not that I claim to be unbiased, myself, but I'm not voting for either candidate, so I have no reason to be defensive of them, hence, am not. Your bias prevents you from calling a spade a spade. That much is glaringly obvious from day one.

It seems that stating a simple fact qualifies as bias to you. Oh well, no surprises there.

Yeah, whatever Gary, everyone knows your "facts" are coming from the mouth of a McCain supporter the entire way. I expect as much factual accuracy from you as I would McCain political strategists and mouthpieces.

So you dispute that McCain was the commander of his squadron? Hmmm... I didn't know that was some GOP lie. Thanks for pointing that out for me.

Did I dispute McCain was a commander of his squadron? I sure as hell did not.

However, unless McCain is going to march his wrinkled a$$ into war himself, following in the footsteps of the Bush War Doctrine, it means nothing in terms of actually doing a President's work.

Your slant to make it executive experience is laughable.

Well, given my family has plenty who served or are serving, you're in no position to speak for everyone. Seems to be a common theme of yours.

State Polls Reflecting McCain/Palin Bump

I like to remind people that we don't elect presidents by national plebiscite. So don't overly obsess about national polls. National surveys have a place – they can reveal significant patterns on measures such as enthusiasm and trends among key voter groups, such as undecided Americans. But in the end, given our current political landscape, it comes down to a handful of battleground states.

State level polling is done less frequently than, say Gallup or Rasmussen tracking. So the results tend to trickle in a little later and lag the national results.

We are just now beginning to see a smattering of post-convention state polls. We'll see a much clearer picture in the next week or so. But according to preliminary numbers, most reflect the McCain/Palin national bump.

Mark Blumenthal at Pollster.com sums them up well:

we have logged eight new statewide polls in the presidential race, two in North Carolina (from SurveyUSA and PPP), and one each in Florida (PPP), Michigan (Strategic Vision), Montana (Rasmussen), Oklahoma (SurveyUSA), New Jersey (Fairleigh Dickinson University) and Wisconsin (Strategic Vision). Follow the links for more details.

Seven of the polls are follow-ups to surveys conducted prior to the Republican convention, and all but the New Jersey survey show a net improvement in the vote margin in John McCain's favor (and that survey shows big jumps for both Obama and McCain since June). The net shift in the margin in McCain's favor in three surveys (the two from PPP and the Wisconsin poll by Strategic Vision) and double-digits in three others.

As organizations continue to release these surveys, they will likely shake up a number of the current electoral vote predictions, many of which had Obama within striking distance of the 270 electoral votes needed to get elected. Blumenthal's electoral vote map (243 likely or lean Obama, 194 McCain, 101 toss up) for example, has moved North Carolina to "lean McCain" from toss up and Wisconsin to "lean Obama" from the solid Obama category, where it stood pre-GOP convention.

SRVT you will get carpal tunnel before GaryC admits anything... the guy believes what he wants to believes, ignores facts that don't support his argument & twists your words. Basically he's closed minded & biased. He probably falls into that 30% that still feels Bush has done a bang up job over the last 8 years. You should feel sorry for the guy, not fight with him.

As for McCain's military service that is commendable & shouldn't be challenged. Now the Republicans (being the hypocrites that they are) dragged John Kerry's military record through the mud & once again the American people were too uninformed & gullible to see through the lie (Bush hid out in the Air National Guard during Vietnam). Now I am no fan of John Kerry as a politician, but they guy served in Vietnam (and was highly decorated) so if the Republicans had any decency at all they wouldn't have attacked his military record.

Now I AM a military veteran & have served in a hazardous duty zone (Bosnia) and a war zone (Iraq). I also have enough medals to qualify as a Mexican General. With that being said you should separate McCain the war hero/POW and McCain the politician. I have infinite respect for John McCain for his service, but he is quickly losing my respect as a politician because of his smear campaigns.

Can't actually take on the issues anymore? Didn't think so.

Find some more names to call if you can't actually form an intelligent response. Or maybe quit trying to speak for others.

Your response was so stupid that there is no intelligent response. Anyone that says commanding in the military isn't executive experience has to have rocks in his head.

Let me try and make it easier for you.

executive (ĭg-zĕk'yə-tĭv)

n.

1. A person or group having administrative or managerial authority in an organization.

2. The chief officer of a government, state, or political division.

3. The branch of government charged with putting into effect a country's laws and the administering of its functions.

4. Computer Science. A set of coded instructions designed to process and control other coded instructions.
