McCain has pulled ahead because Palin gave a really good speech & lets face it she's a babe. What amazes me though is how incredibly stupid most Americans are, because McCain has pulled so much ####### that is so ridiculous that anyone with half a brain should be able see through it. Two recent examples are McCain's attempt to base his campaign on change & the controversy about the "lipstick on a pig" comment.

McCain saying his campaign is all about change is laughably transparent and ridiculous. The Obama campaign is based on change & McCain is obviously trying to steal this idea. I mean ####### over? Secondly anyone who spends a minute listening to what Obama said can conclude without a doubt that the "pig" he was talking about is McCain's policies & the "lipstick" is trying to repackage the same ####### & make it look nice. It wasn't remotely sexist and McCain knows this. McCain should apologize for making something out of absolutely nothing, not Obama.

As for GaryC and Rogue everyone is entitled to their opinions, but just like the Repuplicans you guys are long on rhetoric and short on actual facts. If you support the Republican's policies then by all means vote Republican, but people like you guys who bash liberals just for the sake of doing it are exactly the reason why this country is so polarized (and I'm not even a liberal, I'm an Independent). You can have a respectful disagreement with someone, but if you piss all over them & then want them to cooperate with you (this is exactly what the Bush administration has done over the past 8 years) don't expect much cooperation.

Fear you say? No, it's not fear... it's disappointment with the high percentage of Americans that form opinions & vote on sound bites, half truths, lies and rhetoric.

Most Americans are incredibly stupid? :wow: You seem like a very happy person. :D

Reading the extremely angry political posts, especially over the last month or two, has been pretty entertaining.

I am actually a very non-political person... I hate politics. I also understand that everyone has an opinion & many are different. However two things make me see red. Number one is the fact that most Americans are horribly uninformed and react to sound bites and half truths that a reasonable person would (or at least should) not be fooled by & that is why I said most Americans are stupid. Perhaps I should have used the word "gullible".

Number two is all of the bashing that goes on between the parties & it needs to stop. We are all Americans first, not Republicans or Democrats. This country is more polarized than probably since the Vietnam War (I was too young to remember that) & it is having a very negative impact on the effectiveness of our government.

You chose to laugh at what I said, but sitting on the sidelines & laughing does no good either. We need to come together as a country and stop all of the rhetoric, bickering & BS. The world is too difficult & dangerous and we can't afford to be a country divided over political agendas.

I find it incredibly arrogant that you would see anyone that does not agree with you as "stupid" or "horribly uninformed". This is why people use the word elite to describe the left.

GaryC your comments prove my point... thank you! I said absolutely nothing about being uniformed or stupid if you are a Republican; I said people are uninformed or stupid if they base their decisions on half-truths & rhetoric. Most of my friends are Republicans but we have respectful disagreements. I just wish other people could do the same.

You are also under the false assumption that I am a liberal... I used to be a Republican but I am now an Independent. Yes the antics of the Bush administration has put a very nasty taste in my mouth concerning the Republican party, but I vote based on individuals (not parties).

Your still saying your smarter than "most" Americans. I still call arrogance. How in the hell do you know what others base their opinions on?

And that is the way it should be. Vote for who you think is the best individual, regardless of party. If their was cooperation between the parties in Washington, We the People would be much better off.

What the hell are you talking about "most" Americans? It was slightly over 1,000 people polled. That's not even near 1% of the U.S. voting population.

Gary, I have a full understanding of how probability works. You obviously don't understand how "most" works, i.e. the English language, nor basic mathematics (then we can get to stats and probability). Most of 1,000 is not "most" Americans, unless there are only slightly over 1,000 Americans registered to vote.

Quit acting like your polls mean anything.

Wow are you always this dense???????? Please read what I write and don't twist my words. Every time you post you reinforce my point... you take bits & pieces of what I say without actually trying to understand my point. My point (once again, pay attention) is that the American public needs to stop reacting to smear campaigns & start forming opinions on actual facts.

When a candidate runs a negative ad that's about 20% true and 80% untrue, yet gets a bump in the polls from it, I take issue with that. Both parties do it (generally the candidate trailing in the polls does it more, so that's one reason why McCain has been particularly guilty of this). Sadly the Republicans have made an art out of this thanks to scumbags like Karl Rove. Anyways Americans need to be smarter and more informed & when a candidate runs a smear campaign his/her numbers should go down, not up.

If forming an opinion on half-truths, lies & rhetoric is perfectly acceptable to you then by all means go on with your bad self. However if you give a rats ### about the truth then maybe you should look at other points a view once in a while; you might learn something. If this makes me "smarter" or "arrogant" I'll take that over close minded and uninformed any day!

Again your assuming you know how people make up their minds. I would like to know how you do that. Could it be that people are looking at issues and ignoring the hype? I give the American people a lot more credit than you do hence my arrogant and elite charge.

Look at the recent shift in the polls... what changed from 2 weeks ago? McCain essentially stole Obama's theme for change & totally twisted Obama's comment about "lipstick on a pig" (watch the clip & it's totally obvious he wasn't referring to Palin). You have to be a total retard for not seeing through either of these attempts, yet McCain moved ahead of Obama in the polls. That is why I said Americans are often uninformed and form opinions based on half-truths, lies & rhetoric.

As for Palin she's articulate, smart and easy on the eyes but she is inexperienced and thus her being on the ticket is a direct contradiction to what the Republicans have been saying about Obama, yet somehow they've been able to have their cake & eat it too (thanks to the gullible American voter).

If someone votes for McCain or Obama because they prefer their policies that is exactly how the system is supposed to work, but if they vote based on garbage like I just mentioned then they just wasted a vote.

Edit: Yea SRVT I am silly like that... if I see someone on fire I would generally come to the conclusion that it might hurt a bit too. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to add 2 + 2 in either case.

No, what changed was the GOP convention and the Palin pick. That is why the polls did what they did. If you think it's all about lipstick then I don't know what to tell you.
