How much did it cost you to have your lawyer there, and did you get your money's worth?

Glad I didn't bother with a lawyer....

well it cost me 1400 so far, he took 700 when i filed the case, then 700 when he appeared with me in the interview. i really dont knoe if i got my money's worth, it's really hard to say.

Bourne,

Your lawyer was inside the room with you, right? What was he doing while this harassment was taking place? Isn't your lawyer supposed to make sure that this kind of thing doesn't happen?

You were treated unfairly, and sounds like your lawyer didn't say a word.

it is true he didnt say a word, basically they are not allowed to interfere with the interview process unless your rights are being violated. lawyers avoid speaking so they wouldnt affect your case in a negative way. because the officer has the right to terminate the interview if the lawyer keeps interfering. and honestly i wouldnt categorize it as harassment, cos i wouldnt let it happen myself. my dignity is far more important than a green card. what i concluded is that the officer had his mind made up already.

According to the Field Adjudicator's Manual, section 15.4:

"An alien, or attorney with a properly executed Notice of Entry of Appearance as Attorney or Representative (Form G-28), may request a personal review and/or copy of the record of proceedings, including any written record of an interview conducted before a USCIS officer. The requesting party may file a Freedom of Information/Privacy Act Request (Form G-639) with USCIS to gain access to other record material."

The Field Adjudicator's Manual makes for interesting reading, by the way.

very interesting piece of info, i'll keep it in mind if the second interview doesnt go well. thanks
