I went through my first day today and brought my old films + medical certificate since I also had previous PTB case. The physician in St. Luke requested more information so I have to go back to my pulmonologist in Makati. She told me to get the additional medical certificate that should indicate the medicines I took, dosage, and the duration. I will need to bring it when I come back for my x-ray results.

I am still not sure if they will require me to go through sputum test but after what i've read through the post here, it looks like I will have to go through it too. A couple of questions to you and to others who may have went through the same thing

1. If you had previous PTB case and you have med cert that says you have been cured, would they still require you to do sputum test?

2. If you go through sputum test and all 3 tests are negative, do they still require a culture test?

Thanks so much as another 2 months will badly hit our schedule and I am really hoping to fly to the CA on December during my boyfriend's winter school break >>> when we plan to get married.

Regards,

LMY

hi there....hope youre doing good...i read your post and i hope this message will help you to ease your worries...like you...i been to that situation...like you i have history also of PTB and i was scared to death that they will require me to have sputum test.....

a month before my medical....i went to my private doctor first (i have my check up every 5-6months since i had PTB)...i brought all my xray, medical certificate (like what they ask..my doctor indicatated the medication, dosage and duration of my treatment) and and all the test result i have during and after my treatment....i photo copied it and hand the SLMC a copy...the next day....though i waited almost 7 hours to get my result..(trust me i was so scared that they will ask me to do sputum) they gave me my xray and vaccination...meaning i passed the medical....just a give you a hope...

i dont know if they require to have sputum test if you have history of PTB....but if they dont see any 'suspicious' in your xray...i dont think they will still require you....but like i said..i dont know their requirements now....

what i can advice you is bring all your test results...before and after your treatment....and dont forget to pray.....and pray harder...He's the only one who can make a miracle.....

also i forget to tell you...i dont have any scar (thank God) in my lungs..maybe thats one reason why they didnt ask me to take sputum....

just believe and have faith...things will be okay...

hope this will make you feel better...

have a nice day...

God bless

As long as your xray is clear and no scars of previous illness they will not ask you to take the sputum test...but ..if they see any scars even you are cleared by your doctor, they will still required you to take the sputum test...check on this link for new information...http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/FAQ_TB_Vaccination_Requirements_072408.pdf

Don't worry everything's gonna be fine and god bless

Thank you all for your response. Naiyak ako but then again, wala na akong magagawa and all the wedding plans will have to rescheduled from December until summer next year. I just feel so weak now that all the holiday plans will be cancelled. Unfortunately, I will need 4 weeks pa before I can resign from my current job, of course, I dont want to burn bridges so I need a graceful exit before I leave the Philippines :)

Anyway, it took me a few hours to dwell on this sad fate and now I have accepted it. Salamat sa advice, it really helps!

i just saw your post on my medical woes topic.. after 3 days of sputum exam, you will have to wait for 2 months upon the release of the results of your sputum exam. but don't worry, once it is all clear, st. lukes will be the one to schedule for your interview, that is 2 days after you have completed your medical exam..

that has one advantage though, the embassy will not be as crowded as the usual days. the only interviewees on that date will be all of the applicants who experienced delays due to their med exam..

good luck. stay healthy.

Hi LMY,

We have the same situation... I had PTB before and cured. Though i presented medical cert and a letter from my pulmologist indicating the medicines I take, dosage and the time duration still I undergone Sputum test. Even the result is negative I still wait for 2 month for the sputum cultum result..... Just learn the art of waiting... ok and you will be fine... Take care and God bless

Done with my second day, and yes, the guard asked me to proceed to the TB lab floor and the receptionist handed me a note of my sputum test. So I guess, if you were directed to the results releasing area, mukhang OK ang result ng test niyo :)

I didnt even get to speak with any doctor, but luckily, the receptionist was kind enough to explain the result and the process. I was informed that they actually have multiple radiologist and pulmonologist who assess the results. She showed me three assessment from three doctors and all three ruled out a scar. Anyway, delayed din ang sputum collection since marami raw ang may x-ray problem so it looks like I may have to count 10 to 12 weeks before I get the result.

I just thought I'd write what happened to guide the rest who may just go through their medical and have the same case :)
