hi everyone,

I'm gathering all my docs needed for my interview this Friday but i'm still confused with these questions in the DS 156: :help:

1. "when do you intend to arrive in the US?" - I'm filling it up online and it asks for a specific date WHEN. What if i still don't have the specific date? Is it possible to leave it blank or do i really need to put a tentative date? Coz they've also asked me the same question in my medical, even if i still don't know when, they still asked me for the month so i said November to be sure. So do i need to match my answer in the DS 156 form?

2. "How long do you intend to stay in the US?" - Is it ok that i put "permanently" there?

Sorry guys, i just really want to make sure that i did the right thing... any help would be gladly appreciated..thanks in advance and God bless us all!!

~Jenny~

P.S. I'm really getting nervous right now... God pls help me.... :innocent:

Do not leave any blank and you can put a tentative date

i don't think it would matter whether they are matched or not :)

2. "How long do you intend to stay in the US?" - Is it ok that i put "permanently" there?

yes, that is ok  i put permanently in my form :)

Relax and Good luck on your interview :star:

1. Put N/A, thats what we put. Since you dont have your visa on hand, you cant speculate a date. Otherwords, its been "mayabang" saying you know you are 110% getting a visa (not that you won't)

2. Put N/A or Permanently, you are staying there as an Immigrant so this doesnt apply to you. Remember this form is also used for Tourist visas and Student visas so they would put a timeframe for how long they will stay in the US.

Good Luck.

HI Jen,

Relax Girl! everything will be fine:)

I put June 2008. You can put November 2008.

2. "How long do you intend to stay in the US?" - Is it ok that i put "permanently" there?

Actually i just saw this post by Sheriff Uling and this is what i did exactly...

Most Frequently Asked Questions for K1 Visa forms (DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157 & I-134)

DS-156 Nonimmigrant Visa Application:

Question # 22

Q. When do you intend to arrive in the U.S?

A. You may leave this blank (Specific travel plans should not be made until the visa is approved)

Question # 26

Q. How long do you intend to stay in the US?

A. (We answered…) INDIFINITELY

Question # 27

Q. What is the purpose of your trip?

A. (We answered…) To marry [petitioner's full name], fiancé(e), via a K1 Fiancée Visa within 90 day of arriving into the United States.

Question # 32

Q. Do you intend to Work in the US? (check box) Yes (check box) No

A. We checked... NO and wrote "NONE" in the available space below

Question # 33

Q. Do you intend to Study in the US? (check box) Yes (check box) No

A. We checked... NO and wrote "NONE" in the available space below

Question # 39

Q. Was your application prepared by another person on your behalf? (check box) Yes (check box) No

A. (We checked… NO) This question is for those who have legal representation.

Question # 40

Q. Application Prepared by:

A. (We wrote... NONE by Name, Relationship to Applicant, and Address) You may leave this section blank. This question is for those who have legal representation.

DS-156K Nonimmigrant Finace(e) Visa Application:

There are no FAQs, but the bottom portion of this form is reserved for the Consular Officer (CO). DO NOT WRITE IN THAT SECTION UNTIL INSTRUCTED TO DO SO. NOTE: The pre-screeners at the U.S. Embassy (USE) will instruct the beneficiary to sign right before they meet with the CO for the visa interview. And that's OK. So don't worry.

DS-157 Supplemental Nonimmigrant Visa Application:

Question # 18

Q. Have you make specific travel arrangements? (check box) Yes (check box) No

A. You should not have specific arrangments because it's not recommended to make your travel plans until the visa is issued. Check no and leave the space below blank.
