Some questions regarding packet 3

Hi everyone, we finally got our 3rd packet. I just have a few questions; if you guys could help me out I'd appreciate it. :)

1. Police and medical: when do we get these? Do we send them in with the 3rd packet or do we get them just to have them during the interview?

2. police: we live in London, Ontario. Does anyone know where we'd get this? Is it a regional thing or RCMP thing? My hubby's record is spotless, so does that make a difference where we get it?

3. Medical: anyone know where to get it done in London? What if my husband already has all the vaccines listed on the sheet? Is there anything else he needs done?

edit: 4. I'm a little confused here - I just read that packet 3 comes from Montreal, but I see that ours is from the NVC. Is the one we just got (with the DS230, etc) not the packet 3? Are we going to receive another packet from Montreal?? Argh!

I think I have more questions but these are the most important. Thanks!

YOu hand them in at the interview.

You have to get it from your local RCMP detachment. In London it's at:

451 Talbot ST 8TH FLR in London. It cost us $25 and took about an hour. They required your checklist and the cover letter from Packet 3.

3. Medical: anyone know where to get it done in London? What if my husband already has all the vaccines listed on the sheet? Is there anything else he needs done?

Dr. Al Laity

450 Central Ave, Suite 202

London, ON

519-433-4150

He needs to provide documentation of those vaccinations. Other than that, there's really nothing that he needs.

edit: 4. I'm a little confused here - I just read that packet 3 comes from Montreal, but I see that ours is from the NVC. Is the one we just got (with the DS230, etc) not the packet 3? Are we going to receive another packet from Montreal?? Argh!

Ummmm.. this might be your packet for the CR1. Does it include a DS-156 or an I-134. If not, it's the packet from the CR-1 visa. If it is the packet for the CR-1, you do have to send in everything with it.

I think I have more questions but these are the most important. Thanks!

Thank you! :)

OK, there's no DS-156 or I-134. There IS a DS230 though.

If not, it's the packet from the CR-1 visa. If it is the packet for the CR-1, you do have to send in everything with it.

So we DO have to send in the medical and police stuff with the packet before we get an interview date??

And can we start doing the medical and police stuff right now even though we haven't got an interview date yet? Geez, i thought this last step was going to be EASY.

For CR-1 you need to send in the police cert. before the interview. The medical you take to the interview. Also, it does not necessarily have to be RCMP -- so long as the right system is used by the police. If it's the same system the RCMP use, then you're good. Otherwise, you will need RCMP. I was lucky in that my local O.P.P station uses the same system as the RCMP. (Mississauga).

You also need to send in the long form birth certificate before the interview for the non-USC.

You have to send in everything on the checklist (aside from the medical) before they will complete your case, and after your case is completed the NVC will schedule your interview. Currently it seems to be about four months between case completion and the interview at Montreal, but hopefully it will speed up!

For the medical, you could do it now, but bear in mind it's only good for six months, so you might be better waiting until your case is completed and you are just waiting for an interview to be scheduled.

4 months is bad when it's already been almost a year since we started this whole stupid long frustrating stressful process.

However, I shall clasp my hands and pray for a 6 week wait. ;)

Yeah, I remember thinking it would only be like, 8 weeks or so for me, based on other people's timelines, but it seems Montreal has slowed down a LOT. Frustrating, when I can see all kinds of other CR-1 people from last year, like yourself, who had such short waits between case completion to the interview. My case was completed on November 17th, so I didn't really think I'd get a January interview, but had my husband call in December to check all the same. Then in January I was SURE I would get a February interview, and we called to check again, only to be disappointed again. I was sooo scared this month that I would again not get an interview, but lo and behold, March 20th! And it seems to be speeding up again. Someone on these boards whose case was completed a week after mine is having an interview March 23rd. That's a vast improvement, considering that another person on here, whose case was completed on November 9th, a week BEFORE mine, has her interview a full month before me. So hopefully Montreal will start speeding up and get the wait back down to two months instead of four. :)

Well luckily my husband actually doesn't WANT to move until June, so at least there's that. It's just that I want to leave NOW. Mostly I just want all of this to be over with, as I know you can all understand. But oh well, at least we're almost done with the NVC.

I know one thing, when you get the sticker in the passport its like a huge weight being lifted off of your shoulders. There are so many things and details that just whaft awy. You can throw out piles of file folders. Its a great feeling.
