Hi, my fiance and i just recently filed for the fiance visa, i am in the uk, he is in the usa, and because i cant visit him, we have to scrape together whatever funds we have to get him here when we can..

Lots of people have had to go through this i am sure, but i need to know how everyone coped because im finding it really hard, and to make matters worse my fiance is depressed.

does anyone know how long this visa takes esp coming from the Uk or is it the same everywhere?

  • We spent our time:
  • Learning more about the process ahead
  • Talking on the telephone (trying to keep a regular schedule)
  • Working on our every-day lives (work, friends, family etc)
  • Slowly (especially as time drew nearer) getting things ready for 'the move'
  • Planning our new life together
  • Learning to be very very patient

It all worked - and as the Flowchart says - once things got to NVC, things really moved very quickly..then you almost feel like you're hurrying..

We asked the same question. We were together here in Mexico for 5 years and had a baby, we never thought of getting married because we were happy the way we were. But things got hard money wise here so he decided we should move up there. We researched a bit on it and he left and filed the petition from the states. We had no idea it would be over 6 months before we would see each other again. Worse for him to not see his baby girl and miss out on her growing up. He left before her 2nd birthday.

After my personal sobb story... It is very hard at first, lots of crying over the phone and big depressions. But if you accept the fact that there will be a light at the end of the tunnel and do your best to keep your self busy and cheerful, time will pass and you will be together again. If either of you let depression set in, then it can be passed on to the other and then you both loose hope. Don't let yourself or him loose hope.

I got approved today, so I'm happy again.

Hope this helps.

Really??? Wow Chris and I are expecting ours in Jan or Feb if we dont get held up, the bonus is that once you get the NOA2 in Aus its about 4weeks from the visa (getting the interview interview is really quick).

We have books that we both read and then can chat about, and a game we play together so its almost like being there (but lets face it no where near as good)

Skype has definately been our saviour though.

As I said to someone else, the lonliness can get unbearable at times but you just have to think whats a few months apart when you'll have a lifetime together.

I'm not going to see Tom until Feb next year and that's not for sure yet so in the mean time I'm just trying to keep myself busy. We try and chat every day one way or another and plan our new life together.

If you do need someone to talk to then you can talk to any one of us on here as we are all going through the same thing.

Whereabouts are you in the UK?

Consider your self lucky, it a short flight from US to UK.

Try going from USA to PI.

If he is depressed, tell him to join a gym and start working out each morning.......

You can check out the uk averages based on the people at VJ and their timelines here

processing times

Scroll down and find you Statistics by Country, Visa Type (for the last 360 days) and then if you scroll down further you can see Statistics by Consulate, Visa Type (for the last 360 days).

Hope this helps a little. It is hard but spending as much time with John via Phone, email and Skype tend to help us.

Hi, like you I`m experiencing that now but I learned to coped up through busying myself reading some USCIS Stuff for future interview and preparing some documents, spending time sorting our emails and printing it for future documents for NOA2, reading some posts here in VJ , and write some snail mail if you have time to do it , to make a difference. Then if got bored with that try do some arts and crafts that may symbolized your love, read books about family and relationship. It helps and strengthened the relationship with our love ones.. Until here God bless!!!

The best thing to do is to keep in touch. Modern technology is wonderful :). Video calls is my fiancee's and I favorite. If you both have msn its free. We also send each other txts trhough out the day. (u can also do that with msn) Being surprised with a love txt during the day from your loved one, makes you feel closer. And regular calls also. We wnt be able to see each other until the interview day so we are trying to make the best out of what we have. But the most important thing is just not waiting around. Reasearch, talk to people, ask questions, do whatever you can to make sure that you know what is ahead. It's extremely hard, but unfortunally it's a necessary wait. Good luck!
