Its this attitude of "criticize the government and you're anti-american" that is quickly leading the country to fall on its needs. A real patriot has a duty and an obligation to call out the government for its shortcomings and wrongdoing when it occurs. To sit, say nothing, and wave a flag around is the action of a real anti-american.

Being offended is no justification. I could call plenty of topics here that trash people who criticize the government as offensive, but I don't. You don't have to like everything you read, and criticizing the government isn't offensive to a rational person. This government is indeed stupid.

Being offended is no justification. I could call plenty of topics here that trash people who criticize the government as offensive, but I don't. You don't have to like everything you read, and criticizing the government isn't offensive to a rational person. This government is indeed stupid.

True! However, if people are offended by a given topic or statement, the thread can be closed and removed. This isn't the news and it's not your website, therefore censoring can be extended beyond your inherent privileges. As with the other VJ member, this concludes my interaction with you unless otherwise necessary.

Where does it end? It's far more reasonable to avoid that which you choose to be offended by than to attack that which offends you.

If the statement "American government is stupid" offends you, then golly gee, there sure must be a wide range of things that offend you (including any discussion of politics, religion, or economics). Might want to consider why you are so offended by things, rather than attacking that which you seem to be offended by.

I just cannot believe that congress would take the time, money and effort to investigate drug use in baseball. Besides being an utter waste, there is possibly no better example to demonstrate how tyrannical and how far the federal government has strayed from its original mandate. It's just incredible. I can't even put it into words. If Hamilton, Jefferson, and the rest of them were around to see this, they would demand another revolution.

I wholeheartely agree. For the life of me, I don't see why we are wasting money investigating baseball. Really!!! Don't we have other social and economic challenges to resolve?

I think the revolution would start once they saw what kind of beer that's served at ballgames. It's simply inhumane. The founding fathers and even Locke would be rolling in their graves at how this tears apart the social contract. You just don't serve #### beer.

Now, it wasn't just one set of hearings, it was at least 2 or 3. And of course Congress wasn't serious, because it did have the right to enforce the law that the major sport leagues (not that I'm calling MLB baseball a "sport") weren't regulating on their own. They could have made baseball suspend it's players relative to the IOC and how it deals with doping and cheaters. Two year suspension then ban. However, it was all just hot air, and probably to get us attention to Waxman to make it seem like he was actually doing anything with his time as a high ranking committee member.
